Sometimes we do things that we really don't enjoy to make our partners happy. This is called being considerate of others.
Yes, it is nice to be ourselves, but this mentality has turned into an "everybody for themselves" attitude. That is a poor way of living life. There is nothing wrong with pleasing someone else sometimes too. It has it's rewards too!!

Ummm buying her flowers is not sexy it’s a romantic gesture.
To answer your question I think they both should act sexy when it’s the right time to feel and act that way. Intimacy is what makes a relationship deeper and closer. But there are other moments when you dress up casual looking nice “no lingerie or stripping effects” and just have a good time doing something else, there are many activities can bring a couple closer rather than sex.

It shows that you care. Actions speak louder than words. When you can consistantly do sensual things for your partner, it is proof that your are taking steps to maintain the physical intamacy of the relationship. Your woman will appreciate the effort, because of guys your your friend who thinks its crap. Who would you rather be with? A woman who dresses seductivly and gives you massages, or a woman who just lays in bed and wants your to spoon with her in while she's reading a book?

You should always be yourself! But you should also make sure to make your SO happy. There is nothing wrong to give your partner a sexual favour once in a while if he/she enjoys it. I am sure that the person giving the favour/gift will enjoy herself/himself when he sees that the other person is happy to recieve that gift.
Wheather its a material gift, a b/j, looking sexy, a massage... anything that makes your partner in a good mood will eventually reflect in a better relationship, both sexual and not.

those things are all nice to do but the most important thing is to be yourself. Your partner should find you sexy just when your being you. If you hate it then it takes away from the romantic mood. There are lots of other nice things to do that you may not hate , i think its about making sure both people are comfortable and happy not just one person.

nothing wrong with pleasing or serving others. Infact, that is the secret to happiness. Unknowingly, when we see people we love being happy, it makes us happy and the way to make them happy, is to serve their needs and wants. That will contaminate them in a good way and it will spread not only to you but to the people around them. Your friend is also right when he says, you don't have to. Really, no one is forcing you. You have to do it because you want to, not because you have to. It's a choice each one of us will have to make.

i think that in a relationship, both parties are responsible for keeping the flame alive/love strong. A simple gesture like sending flowers once in while make the other party feel love and appreciated. It;s not doing something to appease the other, it's to show how loved and appreciated the other party is.

I agree. Usually when you work hard to please another, they will work even harder to please you. I think a woman should always keep her self up. Even after having kids. And, tell your friend its not being something you're not, its called compromising. Its OK to go out of your way and do things you normally wouldn't do.

If you love someone, that means sometimes doing things you couldn't care less about for someone that thinks it's important.
So yes, I agree with you.
