If someone comes to this site and posts the same (very specific) question in various ways forty or fifty times and sometimes under different accounts?

Probably

They could have an unhealthy obsession with the topic.

Or they could be answering their own questions with those other accounts to get higher ratings, either for self-ego, so they can delete other people's answers... whatever.

Either way, it's not how a normal person would act.

Geez.. talk about overdoing it, huh? I don't think it's a sign of mental illness... just someone who has way too much time on their hands and possibly needs to get laid..

Heh.. sorry, had to say it. Now for my real answer. Actually, it could be a case of multiple personality disorder (each personality has an account, and for some reason they all have the same question..?), but the existance of that particular disorder is still considered debatable. I personally think it exists, but that's completely off topic. Whoever, if anyone actually DID do this, did this, they probably figure if they post it over and over again, under a bunch of different names, that they'll get more answers, and then they can pick and choose which ones to actually read. It's sort of logical thinking-- more questions get more answers-- but it's pretty annoying if it's all the same thing, just rephrased.

I think I know the questions you are refering to! Something about is this a sign of mental illness because a couple had an intimate day and then didn't speak and pretened it didn't happen. To be honest I didn't think of it as an illness just plain old annoying.

Here are just a small proportion of the questions

Sometimes an emotionally ill person's mind cannot recognize other options of finding the needed answer. It can feel like a crisis out of desperation, feeling the absolute necessity of some resolve quickly. Their sense of time of impending doom feels finite.

Just an unfortunate attention seeking behavior that takes away from the people who have legitimate questions.
