I want to call him
Schnitzel Von Krumm like in the childrens books , but my husband hates it.

Other names I like are Theodore, Frits or Barrett

What do you think? I like unusual names.

I had a friend who had dachshunds when I was a child named Shatzie (pronounced shot-see) & Zipper. I think they're unusual names. The dachshunds I've had were named Heidi, Smoky, Dusty, Chelsey, & Penny. Not unusual names, but all were sweethearts! Chelsey is the only one I have left & she's 18 years old. Sometimes naming a puppy is easier once you get him home & see what his personality is like.

We named our boxer/pit mix Jace. Jace is greek for the healer. Our hearts were broken when we lost our last dog and Jace fit perfectly.
My husband likes the name Frank for a dachshund
because it he says it's short for frankfurter (weanie for weaniedog). I think it's cute too.
I just read that Max is the #1 dog name this year and it's easy for dog and owner while training.
Let us know when you decide and congrats.
