I suspect not all know they are brothers because some tell me their quoran doesn't tell the whole story, others tell me they aren't permitted to read another religion's good book. If they did know then that they are brothers then muslims would not be calling other people infidels (non-believers) cause they all do believe in the same God.

it's true padooma, however God then added (in the bible) that in His eyes that "both" (brothers) would be accepted by Him as equals. It was merely the manmade laws of the time that made the brothers non-equals. To me that means there was a split between church and state at the time, but now that there (in their area of the world) is a joining of the church and state in one government, then why don't they acknowledge they are brothers? What's missing?

It all goes back to Abraham. Which son was the legitimate one? Isaac, born of Abraham's wife? OR Ishmael, born of Abraham's adultery? Technically Ishmael is the first son of Abraham's loins, which could mean he's the chosen line. However, Isaac was born through the God Sanctioned union, meaning Isaac is the heir. Confusing stuff. They've been fighting ever since.

The intellectuals on both sides are aware of that, painfully so I suspect. Hebrew and Arabic are both Semitic languages, sharing a common origin and grammar. Moreover, Islam and Judaism have many similar injunctions like refraining from eating pork, and similar practices like the religious rituals needed to slaughter animals for food. In the orthodox versions of both faiths men and women are segregated in worship. And of course they are strictly monotheistic, something that Christianity is also supposed to be, except that the Trinity is a bit of a problem.
Closeness in genetic heritage, culture or religious beliefs has never been a deterrent to vicious conflict. In fact this closeness can make things worse. The Catholic-Protestant wars in the history of Europe were among the bloodiest. In Chinese history wars between brothers fighting for succession were not uncommon. What people fight over has not changed much from antiquity -- it's wealth, or the things that lead to wealth, e.g., arable land and water in the Middle East because they are so scarce, oil, access to sea ports, gold, rich soil, cities, etc. When they fight they invent noble reasons -- essentially lies -- to justify the violence.
In our times it is not only the Semitic brothers -- Jews and Arabs -- who fight over resources, but also the Serbs and the Croats. They are both Slavic people sharing a common origin and their "languages" are more like dialects. But Serbian is written in the Cyrillic script (like Russian) while Croatian is in the Roman script. If you can read Cyrillic and sound out a Serbian text, there is little difference in sounding out the equivalent text in Croatian. They dislike each other, these two groups, having been divided by Catholicism (Croats) and Greek Orthodoxy (Serb) a long time ago.

I have been wondering the same thing. Even the Christians have had there share of wars over religion.
I was suprised about Bush saying God told him to attack Iraq.
To me thats just sick, I will never understand why... If God is supposed to be so good no mater what religion you are. Then why are so many people having wars in his name.
I will never understand why any God would want so much death and destruction.

You make a good statement. But you know how family is.
I always make a joke and say religion is like Mexican food, it's all the same just wrapped differently.
