REPUBLICANS: States should determinte their own sets of laws without federal interference. Higher income, higher intelligence. Unfortunate life circumstances, not my problem. My taxes should not pay for your misfortune. If you just leave things alone, leave people to their own achievement levels, things will be fine. Everyone is born with the same opportunities. If they don't make the most of them, they deserve what little they get. DEMOCRATS: Some acts are so clearly despicable, the federal government should make them illegal nationwide. My income is as high as yours. So is my intelligence. If you don't care about those less fortunate, you have no conscience. If you leave things as they are, leave people to their own achievement levels, never intervene or act for improvement, wouldn't America too easily be run by an unsavory ilk?

If Republicans are generally of higher intelligence and Democrats of lower, how to explain stupid Republicans and smart Democrats?

There is an exception to every rule.

However, I think intelligence is measured largely by willingess to learn new concepts and open-mindedness to new ideas.

How about us Independents?!

I do not see that the true actions of Republicans are Pro-Life or Pro-Religion. I see them "say" they are Pro-Life and Pro-Religion. Then I see then invading countries which have not done anything to us (Iraq) and maybe in the near future Iran, unfortunately. Think of all the innocent people they willl kill there. And as for Pro-Religion, sorry, but no...although I know more wars are and were waged and more people have been killed in the name of one church or another, how does that come from "good religious people". How many Repulbicans do you know who help the unwed mother with her Pro-life child AFTER the baby has been born. How many Republicans do you know who care at all about anyone who has a need? I don't know any. The ones I know only care about keeping Bush in office (or any Republican) because they pay no taxes...no matter how much money they make. Republicans are really the "liberal" party, not the "conservative" party. the Democrats are really the Conservatives wouldn't bankrupt their country and people for an unjust wa and spend and spend and spend. . And, irt is always the so-called "liberal" Democrats who have to come back in and pick up the devastation left by the Republicans and strive, and do, correct the Republicans budget deficits and bring the country back to a balanced budget and life status. But, what the Republicans excell at is "dirty tricks" and dishonesty. It will be seen that the reason Rove left the White House was just so he could plan the dirty tricks to try to slander and do anything to get rid of Hillary, and make sure the 3rd election will be stolen for a Republican; any Republican, since he's one of the ones running the government in the background anyway. Republicans aren't smarter than Democrats, they just have no morals and no values. What I wonder is, how does Laura accept it all? It's all very sad.

There is good and bad in any area of study. Music is a good example. Rap gets a bad "rap" (no pun intended) for being violent. But Will Smith had one of the biggest selling rap albums of all-time back in 96. And I don't recall any of the negative comments that rap artists are accused of. It's the same with Republicans and Democrats.

There's honest and dishonest republicans and democrats. Just as there is good and bad rap and good and bad country music.

But Republicans believe that less government is better. If local help is needed, let the churches and charity organizations help people. Their right in thinking that the government will just waste the money (your taxes)

Democrats want to help those that need help by taxing big business hard and providing for the people. (with your taxes)

The truth is; the people that work in the community are the ones that know where the money should go. (not a beurocrat in Washington)

Most Republicans are conservative in their thinking. They're anti-abortion, pro-life, pro-religion, pro-military, pro-marriage, anti- gun control and pro tax cuts.

Most Democrats support the opposite of the above with passionate reasons.

Both are necessary as check points.

Without Democrats, republicans would become facists taking away your free will. I believe God gave us the free will to reject religion if it is our choice. I believe you have the right to abuse your mind body and soul with drugs. But Republicans believe that drugs breed a culture of criminality that prey on our children. So the rights of the many outweigh the rights of a few.

Without Republicans; Democrats would become socialist, maybe even communists taking away your free will. You see often free will comes at the expense of another's free will. Like a mother's choice to have an abortion comes at the price of the unborn's free will. Taxing big business punishes them for being succesful. Is it Hewlitt Packard's responsibility to finance my life? Or am I responsible for earning a living?

It's not a good system. (the two party system) but it's better than all the rest.

PS. I use to be a passionate Democrat that campagned for McGovern for president. Then I got a job and started paying taxes and became a republican.

Ah, does this make you a smart Democrat or someone who thinks they can easily define a stereotype. Why not try less government equals better government versus government can solve all problems. At least that is a beginning.

Smartness or stupidity has no party allegiance. Maybe we should label you an independent then we will not have to vote on your label.

Easy. There are "stupid" people among all types of political groups.

Some people just back the "cute" candidate, others are only "Democrat" or "Republican" because their parents were. Plenty of people never really think about politics for themselves.

I was appalled to find out that as much as my dad complains about "the gub'mint" that he has never voted. I have never NOT voted since I was eligible at age 18.

Even more so for politics.
