i have a friend that came to me recently about a sleeping pill overdose. she took 30 pills all at once. she never went to the hospital or anything because the people she was with didnt think it was necessary. she says that it felt like her heart kept stopping or missing beats. she says it still occassionally happens even though the od was 2 months ago. could any lasting damage have been done? what can happen to your body when you take that many at once, besides the obvious death?

It is quite normal for the heart to skip beats, this is called palpitations, the pill she was taking must've been an extremely mild one as taking 30 pills could've killed her if not almost, when ODing on certain meds things as such can happen to the body,vomiting,diahorrea,tremors/shakes,fits/convulsions,there are some really serious side effects out there depending on the med,i suggest you to advise your friend never to do this again as it is not only life threatening but extremely silly to mess around with meds,if they're not prescribed to her,the person the med was prescribed to will get into an awful lot of trouble legally if something goes wrong,as the first question they will ask is "where did she get them from"!

Ir totally depends on what the medication is- 11 shouldn't be enough to do SERIOUS ie terminal damage with most sleeping pills, but you MUST get him to a hospital. Don't mess around, get him in a car or a taxi, or call an ambulance NOW!!

If she survived and hasn't been taking anything else (which I am sure she does despite what she tells you), then she should be fine. What type of sleeping pill was it??? I find this hard to believe that she ingested 30 RX pills without her stomach being pumped.

my cousin took 30+ tylonals and had to get her stomach pumped twice. they said her eyes were rolling in the back of her head and she was vomiting. i think you should get your friend checked out. if you are truly her friend you will take her to the dr or hospital even if she protests. and if you suspect it was a suicide attempt or she is still taking the pills. i strongly suggest you take your friend to a psychiatrist or have her talk to someone she trusts completely about her problem if she has one.

hope everything works out
