I saw two ladies at work today who had their noses pierced...the "rings" stuck out of their nostrils like silver boogers and were very distracting. Was it rude of me to stare?

I think they must like people to stare; why else would they wear nose rings?

To look and take notice? humm.. no. To stare at them, yes.
On the same hand ppl that pierce there bodies like that love the attention. They try to make up for something lacking in their life. Or it's a rebellion. Everyone is different and raised differently. Think of this if you saw a lady that was really fat would you keep staring? Or if you seen someone that is different like handicapped? Would you keep staring? I know these are two extremes but even though you don't agree or do agree you need to respect other ppl and their decisions and feelings.

It was not rude but more uncomfortable for them. It would have only been rude if it was their nose you were staring at or another deformity etc but not something that made them look hideous unnaturally.

I probably would of stared at the silver boogers too!

It depends on the person who's being stared at to determine whether or not it's rude. If a person has an interesting piercing; more than likely they got it knowing that people would notice it and probably stare at it too. If you think it's cool, say that. People like to be commented and it's even better getting a comment on something like that that makes you unique and expresses your own individuality.

Rude yes, avoidable ~ probably not.

OK, so it's rude to stare, yeah yeah.

But honestly, how hard is it sometimes not to, especially when people go to a lot of trouble to get you to look.

I once stared for a fraction of a second too long at a guy with a bright blue mohawk and crimson face paint ... He yelled at me 'what do you think you are looking at?' .... ummmm, what am I supposed to SAY to that?

These ladies like the shiny silver booger look, you like to watch ... everyone's happy!

Cheers :-)

No, it would only have been rude if you had said "Hey, you look like you have silver boogers sticking out of your noses!"

Well it depends if they felt uncomfortable with you staring, but if it looked really out of the norm they should have known anyone would stare. So yes and no. Don't worry about it.

I'd stare too. Nose rings look like glittery boogies. Same with lip rings... how do they eat or kiss anyone? Yuck! I love the one in the middle of their chins! HEY IDIOTS!!! WHEN YOU ARE 8O THE COFFE CAN DRIBBLE OUT OF YOUR FACE INSTEAD OF YOUR MOUTHS!

Not at all..........they must expect people to look and stare wearing facial piercings!
If they say anything to you ask them why they have them.

I don't know but I catch myself doing the same thing sometimes. You can't help it your eyes just keep going back to it.
