Interesting thing about the PS3

Games; are normally region free... play any PS3 game on any PS3 around the world.

Blu-ray; DVD's are region locked and can only play with the right system. i.e Region 1 blu-ray is for U.S only etc.

Xbox360 is the other way around... Games region locked & HD-DVDs are region free.

All PS3 games are region free so yes.

Yes you can connect to stores from other regions, most people from the eu resort to registering from a US hotel address to get into the us store.

And to clarify on blu ray disk movies, only some are region locked not all of them, I know plenty of people who import movies from the US that are region free, there are sites dedicated to tell you what are multi region and what are region locked.

Don't worry, PS3 games are multiregion ones, however PS2 games and movies from your region won't run on it. Your system will connect to proper PS store. I have american PS3 in Europe - no problems with games and network.
