I disagree. I think Rick Hendrick genuinely believes that he and Jr can and will win races together. That said, somebody had to move over to make room. Now THAT was a business decision. Kyle Bush can and will win races, but his volatile mouth is a problem. If Kyle could control himself better, he could very well turn into one of if not the biggest star/s in Nascar. His driving ability speaks for itself. However, I believe that the following recent PR disasters are some of the reasons why Kyle was served his notice and Mears stayed:
1. Stepping out of the winning car at the first COT race and proclaiming "these cars suck"
2. Leaving the track while his team fixed the car and couldn't find a driver.
Also, the race at Talladega is another example of Kyle NOT being a team player. Notice how Jimmy and JG were running at the back playing survivor until the end but Kyle didn't? It was no accident that they ran this way. This was how Hendrick Motorsports decided to run the race. JG said so in his post race interview. For some reason, Kyle decided to do his own thing and paid the price. The world may never know how many times he failed to follow directions prior to this. I believe that Kyle is and will continue to be successful in NASCAR, but he could be so much more successful if he thought about his statements and actions more. He has a lot of growing up to do, and I really doubt he'll do it.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Jr. will prove to be a great driver next year. Unfortunately, it reminds me of the days when the Chicago Bulls kept Charles Barkley and Karl Malone from ever getting that ring. Jr. may not be his Dad or Jeff Gordon, but that doesn't mean he cannot drive. Maybe you missed most of the season this year? Jr. ran up front all the time and would have made the chase if his cars were not blowing engines about 20% of the time. That figure is basic math in case you missed it.... 6 blown engines out of 30 races...... 6/30 reduced is 1/5 = .20
Jr. has a lot to put up with as he is always being judged by someone.... he is either a favorite because of his Dad or he is not good enough becasue of his Dad. Just let him be Dale Earnhardt the person and let him prove himself next year with Hendrick.

Um, let's try blaming the engine shop for the blown motors? Jr is supposed to drive the car, it's someone else's job to build it. I don't see how that is his fault - look at Talladega, most of the engines out of that shop blew.
Jr is THE face of Nascar, he draws the big name sponsors, along with the money, the fans & the fame. He wants to win races, he wants to win a championship. Hendrick can do that for him, DEI can't. DEI has fallen behind on their cars while Hendrick is leading the field. Yeah, money is important. But Jr wants to prove he is a good driver and it's hard to do that when you aren't given the equipment. Obviously he had a bad year, there was a LOT going on with him.

Jr. and Rick Hendricks go back years. Look at the direction of DEI's program. All down hill the last couple of years. Hendricks hasn't gone anywhere but up. Jr. won 6 races in a season before, so he has the skill. Now he just needs the cars and an owner not named Theresa

For Hendrick, money was only a small part of the reason
that they hired Jr. Jr. has a proven track record at small
tracks and at restrictor plate racing. Jr.'s main problem has
been equipment. DEI has been going down hill ever since
Sr. died. When Jr. couldn't get control of DEI, he knew it
was time to move on. As for Kyle, he is still a jerk and a
liability at HMS. Even though he is a good driver, his being
a jerk still hurts him. And finally, as for the engines, in this
day and age, it's rarely the drivers fault.

For the older fans who followed this sport in the 70's and 80's this is not new.Developer and mining operations owner J.D.Stacey did the same thing. He would buy up sponsorships for teams and would hire as many drivers as he could and put a top sponsor with them. The team had the ability to win and the equipment to win and Stacey would keep money in the teams to keep good drivers, equipment, and sponsors.
Hendrick is doing the same thing but with a modern twist.Get the best cars and equipment and hire the most popular drivers, newest hot shot driver. This generates fans, and fans generate sales, sales generate revenue for all parties.Great economic strategy.
We the fans pick our favorite drivers several ways, his ability to drive, his sponsor, his looks, his car make, his bithday. We follow him and if he sells something we buy.
If the driver is in with a top team then he will be seen and sell,a mid level team runs good and is always there in the end,it sells but not in volume,or he could run.He fills out the field and is seen when something happens.
This is somewhat the case at DEI.They have a product and they have drivers but the management and equipment does not match the talent level of the drivers.
Young guns are great for the sport but to prove themselfs they need better equipment from the teams they drive for.
Bottom line is the paycheck to the owners, the bigger their checks the less quaility for the driver, and team.

I'm a die hard nascar fan, and was a HUGE fan of DEI when Dale sr. was running it, but I, along with many other fans have watched DEI go steadily downhill under Theresa's control. If Jr. wants to win, he needs to be with a team that will provide the equipment that he needs to win. as for Kurt leaving HMS, anyone who has raised a toddler can tell you that tantrums don't endear you to anyone, least of all those who have to deal with you. Maybe Kurt will grow up someday and become the racer his talent would let him be if his attitude didn't get in the way.

Jr.may have clutched SOME of those engine's,so Teresa couldn't win s*** !!! and Rick may have signed Jr.as a thank you gesture to Jr.for HIS hand in helping this sport through some hard times!!! I really feel, that Jr. is making this move for his fan's...That's more than what you can say about some of these other drivers...[Kurt Busch]

It was not money. Hendrick gave Jr 100% of the rights to his souvenier sales. That is where the bulk of the money is. He will make more money from Jr's sponsors and that money will go to research and development to improve the entire team.
Kyle Busch was a pain in the butt for hendrick, His attitude got him fired and nothing else.
Your explanation for the engine failures only shows your lack of understanding of how Nascar racing works.

HMS signed Junior because it was a good fit. Junior needed to get away from Teresa. Not sure I agree that the blwon engines were all the 'driver's' fault. Junior was not the only DEI driver to blow an engine this year.
Wait and see, I think Junior wll surprise you... or maybe not.
