The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses certainly does believe and follow Jesus Christ. Adherents date and marry other adherents, but marrying outside the faith is not in itself sinful and there is no actual "punishment" for doing so. Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT a cult.

Jehovah's Witnesses are relatively unique among self-described Christians in that they understand the Scriptures to teach that God's Kingdom by Christ Jesus is a real government which will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite

That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

Do they believe in Jesus? Yes.
Do they have to marry someone that is also a Jehovah's witness?

The bible clearly states that to have a happy marriage, one will marry one who believes in Jehovah rather then a pagan trinity.

"Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?" (2 Cor. 6:14-15).

Jehovah's Witnesses are labelled a cult because they refuse to follow the majority and worship a pagan trinity God rather then Jesus father.

Yes, we believe in Jesus. We just don't believe , like other 'Christian' religions, that Jesus is Almighty God himself. We believe what Jesus himself said, that he is the SON of God, Jehovah. (Matthew 24:36; John 14:28; Colossians 1:15)

The Bible advises to 'marry only in the Lord', that is, a fellow Christian. I won't go into the spiritual side of this concept, but let's look at the practical side from a non-Witness' point of view;
1. Would you want as partner someone who will not celebrate your birthday, Christmas or other holidays with pagan origins with you? Would you be able to withstand the embarrassment of explaining to your friends and family why your partner is not with you?

2. Would you want as partner someone who will not agree to have sex with you until you marry, and what if that means in a few more years' time? (This applies to those who see nothing wrong with sex before marriage)

3. Would you want as partner someone who will stick to their integrity to Jehovah no matter what, even if it means some economic or physical loss to you?

4. Would you want as partner someone who will not accept to donate blood to you, or your children during an operation when the doctor asserts that without it the patient will die?

You can imagine how much tension such a relationship can cause. The Witness would wisely also want to avoid such tension. You see the wisdom in sticking 'to your own' as it were?

(By the way, all beliefs behind the above mentioned scenarios and all other beliefs of JWs are Bible-based; people would just have you believe otherwise because it suits their purposes or they have also been misled.)

I am a muslim and I have married a hindu lady. we both believe we have a right to practice what ever belief system we choose. CONNUNDRU my freind, that wasn't a very wise remark because if a person is stuck in the past, then it is not wise and wisdom is achieved by not only learning from your history but looking to better yourself and help others for the future.

Of course we believe in Jesus God's son, It is a good idea to marry someone with things in common, otherwise there can be trouble in your marriage, Jehovah's Witnesses are Christian of course, although they are different from mainstream Christendom in that they have no part in Paganism and the trinity, the trinity is not a Bible teaching, and we follow Bible teachings. Jesus is our Leader not any imperfect man.

JW's do believe in Jesus; they take him to be the son of God.

They don't have to marry a fellow JW although most of them do. Assuming, of course, that they're mad enough to get married at all :oP

They see themselves as Christians and members of a relgion. From what I can make out they don't give a toss what others think of them.

They are dedicated students of the Bible and can often quote from it chapter and verse in response to questions.

They don't vote. They don't smoke. They do not engage in sex outside of marriage. They are conscientious objectors in times of war. They don't gamble. They don't drink to excess. They stand firmly against abortion. They disapprove of homosexuality. They don't do drugs.

In fact, they are better Christians in most ways than the rank and file of others who only pay lip service to what the Bible actually says.

It often happens that the standards JW's set for themselves are a little too steep for some other Christians who prefer to think that if they do a few Hail Mary's each Sunday it's okay to go knock off the neighbours again each Monday...

I agree with with Unsilenced Lamb...
When i allowed 2 Jw's into my home over a period of around 6 weeks i asked them not to come back - i started to feel really depressed - i also have a cousin who used to be married to a JW and now divorced due to unreasonable behaviour. I know ppl who have managed to get out of this organisation and their family don't speak to them now - families must stay together whatever they believe. I am sorry to say this but i think it would be better to listen to ppl who have come out of the JW's - if you want my honest answer - please stay away - it is a cult. If you want me to i will pray you find the truth. They are not Christians - i'm only telling you b/c i've seen what happens - but of-course your free to make up your own mind. Take care....

Brainwashing crap!My sister is a Jehovah's witness and i,ve never known nothing like it in my life.Normally they do have to marry someone in that religion but some of the stuff she tells me has had us in a proper family row.Like them not being allowed to have blood transfusions, and when they die they come back as different people,no Christmas or birthdays. Why is it also that this is the only religion that they have to send people to your door?if people wanted to become part of this religion then they would find out about it for themselves but people know what its all about and the crap they spout.
My sister only became one 3 yrs ago she has a 13yr old son and always celebrated Christmas and birthdays then all of a sudden stopped all these even for her son who is not a witness, how must he feel?he,s had them all his life then they suddenly stop and he wasn,t even asked like he didn,t have a option and then basically was forced to go to their meetings and studies,he still is not a witness.
So i,d like to know if she was put in a position where he had to have blood in a matter of life and death which she would choose with her being a witness and him not and he would need her signature could she watch him die for the sake of this blood cleansing crap.Sorry to bang on but this is one religion winds me up so much,if you want to know more i,ve put a Addy on for you.
