texas owes about 22 million total, why cant u just extend his contract for 1 year for 50 million? in that case, arod gets 25x3+50 million, thats still over 30 mil per year.
isnt this the best scenario, arod gets around what he wants, over 30 mil per year and can still test free agency when hes 36 and get a huge contract.

yeah but he probably won't blow out his knee during these 4 years. (another question, say that he does sign the extra 1 year, making it 3 years plus 1 year=4 years, can he still opt out during this period?)

he can still go for a 10 year contract in 4 years when hes 36. scott boras says he will play until 45.

Because that would be very foolish on A-Rod's part. Yes, short-term he could get a huge yearly salary but MLB contracts are guaranteed. He wants to sign the biggest contract that he can and teams want to secure his services for as long as possible. The consensus is that he will make somewhere in the $30-35 million range. He can sign a 6-7 year contract worth $200+ million. That's $200+ million guaranteed. He could sign a 1-year contract and blow out his knee and then he would only have the money from that 1-year extension.

What's the advantage? He's never going to be more valuable than he is right now. He is interested in maximizing his income at this point, as anyone would.

If he signed a short extention, he'd be a free agent at 36 and worth a lot less. Most players are on the downhill side by then. Plus a lot can happen between now and then. Better to sign a long-term deal now while you can.

Oh, and Scott Boras' job is to improve the market for A-Rod. Few players have been effective over 41 or 42.

what's the ease? he's never going to be greater powerful than he's robust now. he's attracted to maximizing his earnings at this factor, as every physique could. If he signed a quick extention, he'd be a unfastened agent at 36 and properly worth a lot much less. maximum gamers are on the downhill side by using then. Plus a lot can ensue between now and then. greater valuable to sign a protracted-term deal now on an identical time as you are able to. Oh, and Scott Boras' activity is to advance the marketplace for A-Rod. Few gamers have been effective over 40-one or 40 two.

Someone is going to give A-Rod an 8-10 year contract at $30 million a year, and maybe more. I believe if the Yankees offered to extend his contract at a dollar amount in that range, than he would remain a Yankee.

Because AROD's agent is Scott Boras. And Boras is not going to offer up his client for nothing short of the bank. And the other part is, you always want your client or player to have an option year. Most 2 year deals don't come with one year options.

Because it's all about A-Rod. Between him and his agent. They both think that they should get the world.

Because A-Rod wont take it. He wants security.
