Because we were made differently from each other. Simple as that. It is nature:
Mostly, because men have a high dose of the testosterone hormone and a very low dose of what you have, the estrogen hormone.
Women have a high dose of the estrogen hormone which causes -among many other things-, to become more passive, more conflicted about feelings, and more sensitive.
Now, because we do not have that high dose you have, we are different than women. Now, to this natural fact, add the pressure from society pushing men to be more "masculine" and "strong" and "tough"... It's reality, it's not easy...
So, don't force a men to be like you or like any woman in the sense of what you're asking... It is not "machismo" at all. It is reality. It is because our mechanism is totally different than yours. So if you force a man to be like you -and only because of what you asked- you'll accomplish just one thing: Pushing him away.

-( A gentleman is who never hurts someone's feelings intentionally.)-

Not all people can be trusted enough to share our feelings with them.

As you get to know a man better, and earn his trust and respect, he should open up a bit more. But also realize, that men don't build friendships the way women do; women know that someone is a close friend when they've both shared deep, dark secrets. Men, however, are much simpler: if you both like doing the same activities, complain about common enemies, and have compatible personalities, then that's generally enough for most men.

Hope this helped.

Because society tells us guys that we have to be tough and strong; that it's not socially acceptable for a guy to express his feelings or cry. I think the last time I remember shedding some tears was when I broke a finger, but I don't think that counts.
And especially women. I believe they would like us to express our feelings, but in the end they'd prefer a tough guy. I don't think any woman would want to be with a guy who often or only sometimes expresses his feelings. I believe women want a guy who they can depend on and that's just what a lot of guys are trying to be.

Men basically will share their penned up feelings with their pals. The reason is they would be not be given a reaction like "you are a weakling" from the women. What they would get is a pat on the shoulders and "I know how you feel, buddy". That is very reassuring and of course it is comraderie. Is it any wonder they like to go on a drinking session and pour out their heart and soul to their pals (instead of their wives or girlfriends)?

Well emotions are complex things are they not? Wouldn't it then entail that this would be something that may not always be totally understood by the party having them? I mean do you always know what why you have emotions, what they are and how they came about? Also being less experienced at such a skill as evaluating ones emotions leaves one vulnerable to ones that are more skilled. Do you like feeling vulnerable?

Maybe you're just talking to/dating the wrong guys. Not all of us hide our feelings. I usually just come out and say mine, which isn't always a good thing.

It makes me feel gross and uncomfortable. Some people I can, such as close friends, but others I cannot and won't, such as parents or siblings. That's just plain awkward and uncomfortable. It would be like being grilled during an interview or something. It's just not something a straight guy would do.

Usually it is just a male complex. They hide their feelings in hope that they can fix the problem before anyone knows they were even effected.

I thinks we do that because once we give out all our feelings you start getting clingy & serious/ Eventually we will let you know how we really feel if we feel you are here to stay
