Kids learn from example, so I guess its up to you to start being more active yourself and encouraging your son to participate. You get exercise, he gets exercise, and you both get quality time. If he is reluctant, offer some sort of reasonable incentive (i.e. not TV or video games or food).

Maybe he should join a sport with his friends. Having friends there makes it more fun, and creates a subconcious incentive.

Buy a Nintendo Wii if you can, or DDR for Playstation or what not, if video games are an issue.

Laziness is a hard habit to get out of! He'll need lots of support from you!

If you have to take away the television and video games, so be it. A child will also learn from the parents. If you want him to get active, try enticing him for a walk. Involve yourself so that he will want to mimic you. Also, be sure that his is not in depression. Going for a walk can open doors for a conversation for you to get to know him. Laziness can be confused with depression. Make him realize that life is great with him in it!

Hi there !
Youngesters follow the elders' footsteps....
So....
Let us stop smoking...
Let us get up early...
Let us not watch TV for long.....
Let us not eat infront of TV....
Let us not watch TV in the bed...
Let us not sit lazy on "weekly off" days...

Ultimately, if we are keeping our days busy, they also get tuned to that and our job is done ...
Also let us not "order them around", let us be their friends..best friends......dont you agree ?
best wishes !
