God is first and foremost.
St. Jude helps in difficult situations. He hears your prayer and then delivers it up to God.
St. john Vianney will help you for a career or direction in life.
St. Christopher is good for travel, journeys....
St. Rita for troubles and unfortunate situations.
Medals are not necessary, just faith in God is good.

ooooh, a catholic! try praying to God, not to people who lived godly lives at one point in time. Only Jesus and the Holy Spirit make intercession for us, not long dead and buried Christians. Show me one place in the Bible for the scriptural command to pray to dead people. This is a Catholic tradition, and has no biblical basis.
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Rom 8:27 And He searching the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Heb 7:25 Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them.
BTW, all Christians are saints, not just people that some men high up in the Catholic church deem are "worthy enough" to attain the right to the title. Do a bible key word search on "saint" and see what I mean.

St. Matthew the apostle who was a tax collector.
Feast Day: September 21
Patron Saint of: accountants, bankers, bookkeepers, tax collectors
Matthew is symbolically portrayed as an adult man because his Gospel stresses Christ's human and kindly character.
The Catholic Encyclopedia
About your career question why not ask for God's guidance to help you? When we pray we must pray “in the will of God.” (Romans 8,27) “Thy will be done …” – Lord’s Prayer. Jesus also prayed, …”not as I will but as Thou wilt.” - Matthew 26,39.
God knows what is best for you even before you ask so surrender your problems to God and let go. And if your petition is not answered, ask God to help you find a way to solve your problem.

Saints are not the channel for prayer.
Only Jesus is.
(John 14:6) Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

If you insist on asking mere humans for money, I suggest you ask LIVE ones. If you want to pray for help, pray to God through His Son, Jesus - that's how He instructed us. The bible is pretty clear that we should not have communications with the dead.

Just pray to Jesus. You need to man to intercede between you and the Lord. I have a direct line, you can have one too. Just ask.

Why do you need saints? God promised things we are to put our trust in.
Did you ever research the word 'salvation'?
yesh-oo'-aw
Strong's Number: 03444
salvation, deliverance
1. welfare, prosperity
2. deliverance
3. salvation (by God)
4. victory
http://bible.crosswalk.com/Lexicons/Hebrew/heb.cgi?number=03444&version=kjv
So God gave us salvation, right? Why would you look to a saint when God has it already said and done?
Faith much?

for desperate cases, you can pray through the intercession of St. Rita or St. Jude the Apostle...
but remember, faith is all that is needed. your prayer will be answered even if you pray to the patron of... say... dentists
