There is too much information at our fingertips to worry about religion. It's going down. If god was real and he wanted Christianity to survive, he would destroy the Internet and have made his Christian president smarter than dirt!
Besides, an increase in that crap is simply due to lower costs associated with cable television production.
Last thing... there already are skeptic channels... they are all the ones involving science... thank you Discovery!!!!

Not as much as the reduction of independent content and the consolidation of owners. A few more leveraged buyouts and it will all be the same stuff blasting on 500 high definition digital channels. The operation should be complete in early 2009, about the time they turn off the analog channels. And then it won't matter whether it's a "religous" channel or not.
Actually there IS an alternative, small for now but better than nothing:

There are only two or three christian networks on Cable TV. I think the other 200 or so already qualify as skeptic channels.

no. what increase anyhow? Religion will always be widely popular we all know this. Theres no reason to be frightened of religion period. (unless there are crazy zealots...)
What would a skeptic channel be about? Some guy whipping out a bible and refuting every line?

they're incredibly the only ones i've got ever seen beg for money on television and the radio. some Christians would argue that they might desire to ask for donations on the grounds that their companies are inner maximum. although, if the objective of their companies is to unfold the word of God, is it relatively mandatory to spend all that money on lavish television instruments and super, poufy wigs and makeup for the televangelists' better halves?

ATV - Atheist Television
I think I may have to start that... we'll mock religion endlessly... it'll be fun!
Edit: I believe the market is growing daily... same folks that advertise on South Park and SNL, etc... there is a gay and lesbian channel, science channel, discovery channel... it'll work... and your the first one I'll hire!

I am just glad i don't live in the U.S. for that reason alone. It is not as bad up here in Canada, although we tend to lag behind so it may show up here yet. but fundieism has never been as big up here
