Tough Riddle?

I am found on every playground.
I am found in every office building
I am long... but also short
I am fat but sometimes skinny
I make dogs bark
And fat people cry
You can place a bet on me
I have more numbers than a phone book
I am lighter than a feather... but i have enough strength to kill a black bear..
Colleges despise me and preschoolers love me...

I think the answer is - LIGHT
* Light is certainly on every playground and office building.
* Light exists in all frequencies and wavelengths, so it is both short and fat, long and skinny.
* You can place a bet over radio waves (which is a form of light) or the internet, which is largely optical networks.
* It has more numbers than a phonebook, because it is the collection of vast numbers of photons.
* Flashlights do make dogs bark.
* Fat people cry when they look at themselves in light.
* Light is lighter than a feather, for it has no mass.
* Strong rays can very well kill the strongest of animals.
* College goes prefer to party without light (or less light) and pre - schoolers feel scared without it..

the answer is TIME. I've read that it was derived from a children's poem.
TIME
The time has come,
winter is here
and those yellow bears disappear.
The time has past
as man looks back with a sigh
and a tear in his eye.
As time is held
boys cross their legs
but of course the toilet begs
As time marches on
Girls loose their blush
and swap a comb for their brush
As time passes
For those held high
their end is nigh
As time catches up
Everyone is equal
when we get to the final sequel
As time turns
Without it we have flour and water
With it we have breakfast for my daughter
As time revolves
How does one turn water and wine
into something so fine
As time runs out
The more in a minute you try and squeeze
the less you can do with ease.
As time ticks
All the time that has past
man cannot comprehend something so vast.
