the whole process of going from dark to light is bleaching... you cant do it any other way unless you buy a wig... For dark hair to go blonde, you have to strip away the color, ie: bleach, and it goes in shades.. it will go to auburn/brown, on down to the whitest blonde, but remember, this weakens the hair.. on the opposite note.. for a blonde to go dark, she dies her hair, it is like painting the hair shaft to hold the color on...
Id advice you to go to a salon, cause if you try yourself, you might end up with a bright orange brassy look if you dont use the right timeing or color... it will look horrible, and you'd wasted your time, money on a home kit and end up having to go anyway to a salon to fix the mess...

well sorry to disappoint you but bleaching is a must do to lighten your hair. Unless you want orange hair or broken/cooked hair, you really should wait until you can afford it and then go to a salon. I've made this mistake myself and the corrective color process was way more expensive than it would have been just to do it right the first time.

Never try anything that drastic on your own, go to salon and explain what you want. My daughter is cosmetologist and she amazes me with her color knowledge, what you can and can't do, things the general public doesn't know. She gets many people come in and beg her to "fix" their hair after they attempted something they knew nothing about. Sometimes she can fix it, sometimes it will take a process or two, spread out, other times it just isn't fixable without cutting hair very short and starting over. Do you want to take that chance?

Dont do it! Just get highlights put in or something. Too drastic and if you want it to look natural you will probably be disappointed. Definitely go to a salon if you really want to go blonde blonde.

Ok, unless you only put highlights in that's like virtually impossible with out bleaching your hair. And i would reccomend go to a salon so you don't mess it up.
