The government could possibly get all these "bad characters" both adults and juveniles, out of all these maximum security breeding grounds for future criminals, setup certain secured places, and get them, male and female, over to a war zone and really make them earn their freedom.

They would not be allowed to mix with other military personnel, they would only be involved with themselves and all that didn't get killed would go directly back to jail! I believe this had been tried before in WWII.

ever see the dirty dozen? now a days they would not take them into the services because of the backgrounds they have.
a force to be reconned with--would have to offer freedom if they survive the mission.
know a lot of them would want to go instead of being in the prison for the next 25 years.
lets run it by ongress and see where it goes.

I think if we took our criminals and sent them to fight for our country overseas, when they returned they should be set free. But having them over there is a disaster waiting to happen I think. Yes, they could probably get rid of a lot of terrorist, which would be great, but the minset for criminals is something we dont fully understand.
They may go over there and instead of helping our country, they would cross to the other side and hurt our military. even if Freedom was promised these people are in jail and have committed crimes because somewhere in their lives they were lied too or treated wrong. They wont trust our government to bring them back and let them be free.

Not a good idea. A lot of these criminals would find ways to extort the locals, and this would do nothing to gain support of our presence there.
Not to mention having to provide known criminals with military training. Most would probably go AWOL, and wind up back on the streets and even more dangerous.

Gosh I wish it were that easy. I would say that if the mission were as simple as 'destroy and conquer' I would be all for training them and sending em out to battle. But the reality is that these criminals would be fighting along side some very intelligent, well trained, soldiers of GOOD CHARACTER. These soldiers would have to rely on the criminals for their safety and that just aint right.

and then we are able to start arresting much greater human beings to maintain the ranks complete! we could use a militia of prisoners to unfold freedom! A-M-E-R-I-C-A! heavily, we can't we purely deliver human beings like Paris Hilton or Jenna and li'l Barbara Bush? Lindsey Lohan could make a stable grunt as quickly as she gets out of rehab.

not talking about putting these people in the milatary are you? no happening. there's a reason they are specifically barred from joining.
