You don't say how old you are....but consider this....What is the REASON for dating?

It is to find a spouse.

There really is no other reason.

So, are you ready to begin looking for a husband? If you are under the age of 22, I hope not!!

Having made that point, there is nothing wrong with daiting someone of a different faith, but many people fail to consider how difficult it can be- especially if you are Catholic and he is not.

Many non-Catholics try to lie to Catholics to get them to leave the Church. They will tellyou how you worship, then try to tell you it is wrong.

Don't fall for it. They are very subtle!

Its not a sin to marry a person from a different religion. But, to get married to him you will need permission from the bishop and both of you have to agree that the children will be raised Catholic and be prepared for the sacraments. Just remember that Catholicism and Lutheranism are not the same. The Lutheran religion is a schismatic break off of the Catholic religion. But, do not try and force him to convert. The best you can do is give a good example of what it means to be a Catholic and pray for him. And when it is time, if it be in God's plan, he will want to become Catholic on his own.

Why should it be?

Both have more similarities than other denominations.

Both practice infant baptism, and communion as sacraments.

Both reject purgatory, praying to the saints, and praying to Mary as unscriptural.

Services are very similar in that we are both liturgical. There is a set format. We also have Bible readings, but a sermon that is based on the readings as well.

Lutheranism is based on scripture alone. Roman Catholicism is based on scripture + Papal decrees + Church history.

Lutheran churches are governed locally, not from a big church hierarchy.

And if you leave religious politics out of the picture, God is God, right?

If you were to marry this guy, then when it comes time for your children's first communion or confirmation, you'll be in a dilemma. If this is someone you're serious about, the two of you would be best off settling on one church or the other before marriage.

Unless you are married in RC church, you will be living in adultery. Your priest is not supposed to wed you to a non-catholic. Could be a problem. Episcopal or www.uua.org welcomes you both.
