When my cat Homer is bathing himself with his tongue, if he is sitting next to me, he often tries to include me in the ritual.
He is sitting next to me as I type, grooming himself, and he suddenly started to lick MY ear.

while you're assuming that cats shelter all their grooming needs themselves, think of returned. Your place on your cat's grooming is a little greater complicated than purely working a broom by his fur. jointly as retaining the coat sparkling, bright, and untangled is a primary component of the job, your cat's toilette isn't complete till his claws are trimmed, his eyes and ears wiped sparkling, and his tooth brushed. Your responsibilities may even boost to bathing your puppy in some circumstances: for longhair cats, on social gathering, and for older cats no longer versatile adequate to completely groom themselves. no longer in uncomplicated terms does all this maintenance save your cat eye-catching, yet a number of it additionally serves as preventive drugs. The greater hair you get rid of via brushing, case in point, the less your cat will ingest whilst he grooms himself, decreasing the style of hairballs he throws up and keeping off a probably deadly blockage of the intestines via clumps of hair.

Yes, my cat will be washing herself and she'll look at me and reach over and give me a couple of licks, as if to say, "Hey, you could stand a little grooming yourself." The male just sticks his butt in my face. LOL.

all of the time! I have a couple that are clean freaks but one in particular- Harry will clean you when he is grooming, he will also groom any other cat near him and when we have a newcomer he is always the first to greet and clean them- He is just being lovey and friendly. There's no clean like a Harry clean! *LOL*

Never licked my ear, but yes they include me sometime as wells. I thinkit is pretty cool for them to even attempt such a thing. They are very independent creatures. This just means they accept us for our ownership of them.

My cat Gizmo used to do it all the time. Basically whatever part of me was closest. I believe it's because they've accepted you as their family, and it's their way of showing the care they have for you.
