In Logic, an argument is a set of declarative sentences (statements) known as the premises, and another declarative sentence (statement) known as the conclusion in which it is asserted that the truth of the conclusion follows from (is entailed by) the premisses. Such an argument may or may not be valid. Note: in Logic declarative sentences (statements) are either true or false (not valid or invalid); arguments are valid or invalid (not true or false). Many authors in Logic now use the term 'sentence' to mean a declarative sentence rather than 'statement' or 'proposition' to avoid certain philosophical implications of these last two terms.

Example 1:
Claim: Cats are less intelligent than dogs.
Ground: Cats cannot learn to do tricks as well as dogs do.
Warrant: The ability to learn tricks is a mark of intelligence.
Example 2:
Where: C=claim, W=warrant, G=ground, and Q=qualifier
C: Humans can't fly.
Q: In a gravity fie

Thank You everyone, Liberals and Conservatives, for your examples of how each of you argue. Everyone Please look below and you will see that the liberal arguements simple provide an emotional burst with name calling, while conservative arguements usually state a premises and then give facts of why they think the premises is true. Great examples. Even the one computer nerd who thinks he is an expert still drops his logical arguement for an emotional one.

OH, LOL and the funniest is "Frankfus" who actually says "Logic is Subjective!" That is the best example by far of a liberal arguement. lol

In your example #1 your "declarative sentence" is not true.
Cats CAN learn tricks as well as dogs - their human handlers are the problem.
Few humans have the intelligence or the patience to train cats - that is the real problem.
Example #2 - umm what is "in a gravity fie" ????

"logic is subjective to the person making the argument" are you some kind of moron? Logic is by definition rational and objective. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though, when you say logic is "subjective" and assume you mean that people disagree on whether an "if p then q" is valid. My explanation for that is this:
Assuming premises "1" and "2" then we can assume
If p then q...if p happens and you don't get q then the argument is invalid due to a false premise. Also, lines of reasoning are different depending on the premises.
I can't give a logically valid liberal argument, but their main assumption seems to be that all things are finite. They act as if things such as wealth, justice, and power can neither be created or destroyed. In order to be just to one you need to be unjust to another, in order to give wealth to one you need to take wealth for another. They act as if materials can reach some equilibrium of distribution, which is nonsense as materials are constantly changing and have unequal values.

"We need the Liberal ideology as much as Custer needed another Indian!" They know so much that isn't so. Liberals are so opened minded their brains may have fallen out. The Liberal ideology is a theory , fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality. They are Advocates of a policy that empowers a strong federal government to enslave its people with a high tax burden incident to the support of extravagant and unnecessary social programs destructive to both the work ethic among the lower class, and the incentive to innovate and succeed among the working class. "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." Liberals like to spend other peoples money!! The problems we face today are because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living. @

Liberal....Logic??? ..."That is highly illogical, Captain Kirk"
I do not think that liberals have logic, as the normal definition of logic should be, as a conservative would understand. Logic to a liberal is what they call "fuzzy logic". In their own demented way, "fuzzy logic" is normal logic to them.... Also, liberals are so brain washed by their "moral relativism. A good example is the death penalty and abortion. Liberals say conservatives that are against abortion and for the death penalty are hypocrites. This is an effect of fuzzy logic and moral relativism. They fail to see the difference between the killing of a completely innocent unborn baby in the name of "choice" and a convicted criminal being executed as the punishment for his/her crime(s) which is merely the execution of the sentence handed out by the courts. Let me one point clear, while I do support the death penalty, I also very much believe that every avenue of evidence should be exhausted before the criminal is executed, to be sure that an innocent person isn't executed.

Go back to the textbook. You got three things wron gin your explanation. And your "Example one" is not logically valid--either that or its incomplete.
As to your question--yes. There are also very logical conservative--and even neoconservative arguements. But in all cases, that does not mean they are valid arguements. If the premises are invalid, the logic will produce an invalid conclusion. Or, in shorthand, garbage in, garbage out.

That's not very nice.
If you're going to insult people you could at least give examples of what's illogical about their beliefs. You know... instead of just ranting on about how illogical liberals are. People might think you are stupid, because right now it seems like you just HEARD liberals are illogical because you have no real examples.
It just seems logical to give an example in a rant.
What you just added about Conservatives giving rational explanations is absurd. You complimented their beliefs, of course they aren't going to say bad stuff about you. While you insult Liberals you expect them to be nice to you? Where's the logic in that?

yes, a liberal argument that has clear logic in it is their support of unions. unions help the average person bargain much more effectively with a wide range of powerful entities. It also helps normal people gain access to power that they would never have any other way

Logic is subjective to the person making the argument. I for one find very little legitimate logic in Liberal arguments, however I do understand their objectives, evil as they may be.
