Depending on where you live, either contact the Clerk Of Courts office or see if there is a special Traffic Ticket Division of the Clerk's office off-site from the main court house that deals just with tickets.

If you can not find the number, look in the phone book or call information for your counties Clerk Of Courts office.

you should go to the clerk of the court and ask about changing dates. the clerk will probably send you upstairs to a judge and the judge will ask you the reason why you want to change the court date. tell them the reason you need to change. i would not mention money . give another good reason why. the judge will say yes or no. they have a schedule they look at and know when the policepersons day (s) are and will give you a day when that person is planning to be there

the only other option you have is to go to court on the day of the court and say that you really want to have a lawyer / but haven't found one / lawyer couldn't be there, etc. they will usually grant you one extension.

i would consider getting an atty ... do not listen to others about pleaing guilty. if you plea guilty you will get a guilty record plus the fines. if you plea no guilty you have a chance at no record and no fines. no guilty plea also has as chance at lesser fine . you have no chance if you plea non guilty

The only way to get an extension is to go to court and plea guilty, and tell the Judge you need time to pay out the fine. They will have you fill out paperwork, and set up payment dates, until it is paid. If you miss one payment, their will be a warrant out for your arrest. They call this a financial hardship, (like probation), until paid off. Then it's over. If a warrant is placed,(for missing payment), you will go to jail and have to pay a cash bond for the remain er of the fine. Some states add on an extra $25 for late fees. Good luck.
