You must not change who you truly are. Then when anyone that you like, sees that you are "natural" and not the regular "bullshit artists" out here, you will succeed. Only a fool could miss a "genuine caring admiration" as you describe. Be your charming self and don't make a "special effort" to impress anyone. YOU don't have to impress anyone but God. talk to him... and tell him... like not outryt cuz that myt just freak him out.. but get to be like really good friends with him and then eventually let him know how you feel...
ive been in that situation. and i just told the guy and we ended up together 4 a while... so yea. it ended up good 4 both of us.

start off small.... start saying hi, then small talk, then discussions.. then try to hang out with him and his friends with your friends.... during this time you will be able to pick up cues to see whether he likes you or not.
