History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it.
hope this helps---enjoy the night

Hey, another Linda on here! I'm a Christian, a Baptist(!), and I still have to admit that there are times when I do wonder if there's really anybody out there. I mean, I know there is, I feel it, don't have time to go into details here, but without doubt there wouldn't be any faith, just knowledge. I agree that the ancient Greeks were just as serious about their gods as we are now. In fact, I understand that those gods still have followers today, some of them on here. As far as the Bible stories, I take them on faith because it seems like every time I turn around science is coming up with some new information, and sometimes those findings lend more credence to certain things in the Bible. But really, does it matter whether every single thing in the Bible is a news report? I mean, the resurrection and my salvation are really all that I need to believe in to be a Christian, and I haven't found anything to contradict those yet. I have found, though, that when you deal with children you have to come down to their level, you have to use images they can understand. To God, we would be like children, so in the Bible I figure that's what He did sometimes. So who cares? I don't worship the Bible.
I'm sorry I can't help you really with this, I know it's confusing sometimes. I guess you just have to decide what you want to believe, and then talk to God about it. I hope you find the answers you're looking for. Take it easy. God bless.

angels closed the mouths of the lions when Danial was thrown into the lions den. God can control animals. As far as the flood well we will just have to wait and see. I believe totally in God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy spirit. God saved my life more than once.

If the stories of one religion don't add up, don't let it stop you from researching others. There's philosophy to be found in them all. I'm sure some stories were flimsily made up to explain something but there still was a lot of question and philosophy in each. I would try a world religion class at a local college. One class won't cost very much.

Sweetie, welcome to the world of intelligent thinking adults who are not afraid to look for answers. It's good to question what you've been taught. You might question and find that everything you were taught was true. Or you might find that it isn't. Whichever you choose, it is just that...your choice. And making a choice requires the ability to question and to conceive the possibility of being wrong. Whatever you decide, by questioning and not following blindly you come to the best choice for you.
By the way, the Christian God in the form of Jesus didn't want his followers to blindly follow what they were told. He didn't tell them follow me, but don't bother thinking about it. He wanted them to have faith through understanding, not without it. He gave them parables and examples to help them. He even got frustrated with them sometimes when they didn't get it "Why have ye ears, but do not hear."
Jesus tried to teach his followers to question, to have discernment, to not just follow blindly.
As for me, the stories in the Bible such as Jonah and the whale, and Noah's ark are man's way of interpreting what they saw happening around them or to explain what they couldn't understand, and, in some cases, to purposely create metaphors for the people to learn from.
Good for you and welcome to the intelligence the Divine gave you.
By the way, if Noah did really build an ark and God caused the animals to come to him two by two, then intelligence tells us one of two things should be true. God caused the animals to get along with each other and remain calm or asleep. Or, is ancient man's passing on of a great catastrophe that has been altered by the telling.
But also consider this, as far fetched as it may be, we are today as a species building our own ark. Scientists have created an ark in Iceland or Greenland (can't remember for the life of me at the moment) where DNA from every plant, animal, and living thing they can get is being stored cryogenically in an effort to save the species that are becoming extinct and will be extinct in the future. They are having to save enough DNA from many different members of a particular species so that if they are needed later on, there is enough genetic diversity for that species to survive. Without that diversity, a species develops horrible diseases they don't build immunities for (look at what is happening to the Tasmanian Devils now).
So all of that ranting kind of leads to this. Is it possible that Noah saved animals from extinction. Of course. Was it done the way the Christian Bible describes, most likely not. Does that invalidate the miracle. No. It is a miracle we are performing today.
And each culture or society thinks that their religion or lack there of is the only way and nobody else is right. It is the individual who can break that chain of thinking to discover real truth.
Continue your search and find your answers. Listen to your heart and see what speaks to you. Go out in nature and just close your eyes and listen to what nature offers. It's amazing. That is when I am closest to the Divine and I feel the most connected. Of course, I believe in the Divine, not a Christian construct of God, but my own personal understanding of it. Good luck!
Good journeys and good studies,
Asha

God is really real. Think about this for a second.... IF there is a being who could create everything you can see and experience, could he not control it all too? So he could make Jonah survive being in a whale, because next to creating the earth moon and stars, that would be a walk in the park.

Now it could be completely plausible if perhaps the animals were all young creatures. Then no problem with attacks and logistics of feeding and space to keep them

I would suggest that you pray and study for yourself, look into things. After all if there were no God praying can't hurt anything right? So pray, for understanding if there is a God this is great for you, if not you've simply spent a few private moments talking to yourself, no harm done.
