Which would offer more resistance to a bullet, 10 inches of wood or 10 inches of sand? Strangely, I seem to find it is sand, what do oyu think?

It's strange, isn't it, though that you could push a oancil through the sand but just have it snap on the wod! wierd!

You are correct. Sand would stop the bullet faster. The sand is more dense than the wood.

take a toilet paper tube and put a piece of tissue paper on one end then fill with sand and try to stab a pencil through the sand to break the tissue paper same applies to a bullet

sand offers more resistance, to gain even more, wet the sand first.

Sand may have it's drawbacks [ leaks out of punctured bags ], but it gets it done.
