Yes.

Nuclear weapons, even in sub kiloton yields will create plenty of radiation. It seems that neocons seem quite short on real science. Fission bombs create about 30% of their energy towards radiation, while fusion bombs are like 2% radiation. The effect of a bomb is kind of like a very loud sonic boom and an earthquake. Contrary to what movies may make you believe, the result is not mutant survivors, but survivors with lifespans shortened by cancer.

On the politicial scale, it gives 3rd world nations an INCENTIVE, not a deterrent to get nukes. Why? Because they will note that the only way to deter the US is to have nukes themselves. True, they will be blown up to pieces if they use what few bombs they get, but they can still inflict considerable damage, especially if several nations pool in their technologies. It could usher a new Cold War, where the Third World attempts to deter the US. Another danger with the proliferation of nukes if it terrorists can get their hands on the materials.

On in all, yes, using a nuclear weapon, espeically when the US enjoys such a large superiority of nukes is stupid. It is interesting to note that the US gains the most from a nuclear weapon free world, because it's conventional forces have such an overwhelming advantage in firepower, that nukes are a deterrent for the US military!

Why not? Capitol Punishment is the height of ignorance & stupidity- & IT certainly hasn't changed anything. -Why should Countries blowing themselves UP from thousands of miles away- be any different??! The bottom line IS; we ALWAYS have "Choices". It's just up to US- to decide HOW we're going to USE them...

It's stupid not to use them. You build them, you paid for them. You are at war and have the means to win it and you don't use it? Dumb, dumb, dumb. If you at war, you should use nuclear, biological and chemical weapons until you kill your enemy. If you don't have the stomach for it, don't go to war in the first place.
