What does it benefit you to live a good life or follow a belief "that suits you best" when you and everyone else will be dead. Why isn't there more focus on the eternal and less on this temporary hell hole of earth? What good is it to follow a religion because it makes you happy if your dead?

Because this "temporary hell hole of earth", as you call it, is really all we know for sure that we have.

We don't really KNOW for sure what happens to us after we die -- there are all sorts of beliefs about the afterlife, but since no one's ever actually come back from the dead to tell us what its like, all we have is unsubstantiated belief.

So why not focus your attention on living a good life, doing good deeds, and leaving THIS world a better place than you found it?

What if I was unhappy in life to please a God and found out that I was wrong? That I worshiped the wrong guy or gal??

It is best to be happy now and live a good life and do no harm to others and if we are very lucky there MIGHT be something.. There are no guarantees of regaining our own consciousnesses back after death. We are eternal for certain, matter and energy cannot be destroyed we just change forms, but our concious our spirit is something we can only wonder about and hold images of what it may be like to pass to the other side close to us.

Can you proof your eternal life then? Which of your dead relatives come back from their new eternal world to tell you they are living eternally? I am quite sure none of them.

Does that not prove there is no eternity?

I love microwave pizza, and so do many other people. Instant gratification is a big lure, to which our flesh nature is particularly susceptible. Plus, many people don't even believe there is any life after death. Even for those who do, death is not something many people care to think about unnecessarily; not when there are so many good shows on t.v.

You are right that it is more important to take the long view and focus on eternity. It is up to each person to make the decision for himself or herself regarding what they choose to value.

Relationship with Jesus has many benefits, but sometimes there is suffering involved as well. The most important thing is having life that lasts forever for those who choose to be in relationship with Him.

easy, because people who are brought up with an evolutionary/humanistic worldview dont believe there is an eternal, life is only here and now, so they reason that they must get everything out of life that they can here on earth. the eternal has no meaning for them.

I focus on this life because I have no reason to think the afterlife is real. Given the great multiplicity of afterlife beliefs and the total lack of verifiable evidence for any of them, it seems to me that people believe in fairy tale afterlife scenarios to help them cope with "this temporary hell hole of earth".

if eternity exists for the soul then is not life on earth part of that eternity....why NOT be happy here also

My friend, you CANNOT prove a negative, so it is no good asking us to prove there is no afterlife. You make the claim that there is, so it is up to you to prove it.

Which you cannot do.

I will live this life, the ONLY life I know for sure I have, to the very fullest.

I'm concerned about being happy wherever I am....whether it be here on Earth or wherever my soul might be after death....be happy forever...that's how I look at it.
