your dad being a vet has nothing to do with you being drafted. and because you don't sign the draft until you are 18 years old... you can't be drafted until then.

When there was a draft, and most likely should there be another, they did not draft those under 18. Your parents' status as veterans made no difference.

No, that's nonsense.

While you can voluntarily join the military at age 17, provided that a parent or guardian signs for you, you cannot be drafted at age 17 (or younger), regardless of whether your parents are veterans or not. (And there currently is no draft, either...)

No draft, as previous answerers have stated, and if there were, no, 18 is the minumum draft age regardless of the parents veteran status.

No!

First of all, there is no draft.

Second, the draft (when there was one) was for those age 18 or over.

Third, the dad's veteran status didn't mean a thing for draftees. Their eligbility was determined on their own.

Fourth, there is a treaty called the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It raised the conscription age to 18 for all signing parties. The US is bound to this by treaty (say thanks to Bill Clinton).
