I have to do a research paper on this and I think getting everyone's opinion on this topic would really help me. Please tell whether you are "for" or "against" Animal Testing, and you can also explain to me why you feel the way you do if you want to. Thanks so much for your help everyone! =)

Thank you guys so much for all your help! I am sorry but I won't be picking a best answer, I don't think it is fair to pick just one answer because the answers were based on everyone's opinion, so there really isn't a right or wrong answer. But you guys have really helped by giving me a new statistic for my research paper! I was able to conclude that 82.5% of you are against animal testing and 17.5% of you are for animal testing. Thanks again everyone for helping with my research! =)

Against. Besides the fact that it's wrong and inhumane, animal testing is not 100% accurate on what could/would happen to humans; their genetic makeup is not the same. With today's technology there are other methods of testing available. If there is any question about the safety for humans, the chemicals and ingredients should not be used in the first place. Putting formaldehyde in nail polish is one example. Common sense should tell you that is not an ingredient that should be used. Now it's been removed from quite a few brand and being marketed as formaldehyde-free. It shouldn't have been in there in the first place. Testing on a rabbits eyes cause they don't' water or blink like ours, what does that prove...that something with chemicals burns your eyes when you get it in your eyes? It doesn't take animal testing to figure that out. When a chemical eats the whole side of an animal off and it's still alive with it's organs exposed, what kind of testing is that for...to see how long we can survive with our organs hanging out...how does that help humans market products? We've done enough in the way of animal testing, have learned far more than we ever thought we would (at their expense...some of it useful, some of it not even close), and have advanced in technology far beyond what the imagination. If some companies can market their products without animal testing, then why is it still being done? For medicines, test on humans with our genetic makeup or use computer technology.

Absolutely AGAINST. The torture of animals is not required and there are other ways of testing products. As one exampIe, I worked once in a clinical lab and a Purina testing lab was in the back. I saw them pulling veins out of dogs and I will never forget it. The dogs were bought in lots from across the state and probably people's pets-stolen. After an experiment is over, any remaining dogs had to be killed. Even tho' I begged to get one of the dogs and save it, they had to kill it with the others. I just don't think it is necessary and what a joy it was to empty my wastecan into the dumpster and find it full of killed dogs. All animals are sentient beings-feeling, thinking, reasoning beings that feel pain and react to mistreatment. Why do humans feel the right to inflict this punishment on any creature?

I agree with Noelle, but I'd like to add they we are also "all for it" by buying products that are tested on animals.
If you were really against it you would only buy products that were not tested on animals. The easiest way you can make a difference in this capitalist consumer-driven market is in how you spend your money. So if you buy it, you're not against it, cuz if you think buying something else is too hard, you're just lazy.

Against. I don't really know,i just think that its not fair to test a product on an animal because they don't have a choice and don't get anything outta it.

Depends on the purpose of the testing. Lotions? Mascara? Eyeshadow? Absolutely not. You don't test on a poor defensless animal for cosmetics or other uneccessary chemicals and compounds.
Cancer research? Diabetes? AIDs? Spinal cord injury research? Absolutely. Human life trumps animal life. If that is what's neccessary to save human lives, do it.
I eat meat, but I don't believe animals should be tortured or tormented without reason. Kill them quick, use all of the animal, don't waste anything. Use the skin for leather, the muscles for meat, the organs for food or medicine (pigs pancreatic glands are used to make insulin for diabetics). Bones generally go for animal food or calcium supplements.
Animals are here for our use and consumption, they're are also for us to safegaurd and look after.

I am against it. If you want to test a product then test it on people...people adviously need the money, but dont test it on inocent animals that dont know any better. It horrible to put any animal through suffering for a product you'd use on ur hair! use it on people...it mkaes more sense to me than using it on animals...if were going to make products then we need to test it on ourselves the products are for us anyway...therefore we should test it on us...my sister did a project in college where they had to put fish in cold water and then in hot water...and they had to see how long it took the gfish in cold water to die...i thought that was horrible...even though they are just fish

Well I think the poor animals have enough on their plates as it is, we don't need to make it worse by making them do tests?
I mean, what happens if they fail? They have to go through life knowing they couldn't live up to our expectations...
let them live free and happy before we slaughter them and eat their carcases

Is it like multiple choice testing or what? How will they hold the pencil. And will it be graded on the curve. If you can give me a concise answer on these points then why not. Yes
