I grew up Catholic and I had two, a green one and a brown one that said, "Whoever dies wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire" (or something like that).

Just a random memory...

I was also wondering if the RCC still uses them.

In Catholic grade school, back in the 70's, I wore a scapular for a couple of months, because my very Catholic grandmother asked me to. She only removes hers to bathe. I stopped wearing it because I couldn't feel any difference inside while it was on. I'm not sure if wearing it is a common thing anymore.

I did for a protracted time, i replaced into surprised I had a million sturdy habit that caught! (2 years.) i don't positioned on it anymore to circumvent human beings thinking i'm a sturdy individual, because of the fact the scapular jogged my memory i'm not that sturdy, and after my marriage failed, it felt extraordinary. It did take care of me for a protracted time, or despite it extremely is for(?). I save it with my rosary and different non secular fabric. according to hazard it remains working? I had chanced on a eco-friendly one and whilst it wore away i stitched it to my sturdier brown one.

Yes, many Catholics still wear one or the other. There is much more behind them than just the promise. It has to do with a prayerful life, in union with God.

yup they still "use" them. you see they were something worn close to your heart - they were very "bland" nothing "special" in looks. however by wearing it you were reminded to keep Christ close in heart, mind and spirit. the scapular itself was nothing more then a reminder of they fact - you have accepted Christ - you have agreeded to live as Christ-like as possible and thus reminding yourself that no matter what happens -- you will have etermal happiness with Christ.
