Yes. I had an interesting discussion a few weeks ago as i walked my dog around the river. I was approached by a couple of Mormons and this topic arose. They quoted Jesus in the new testament sayinng know ye knot that ye are gods? It is in there however they didn't realise the false gods in the old testament were also referred to as gods and in one verse in the new testament refers to Satan as the god of this world who has blinded the minds of those who perish. So even Satan was referred to as a god. But this doesn't mean he was God almighty. And they had no answer wen I asked them about the many verses in the old and new testament that make it clear there is one God and that he will share his glory with no man. Get a good concodance and look them up. The apostle Paul said if I or an angel from heaven preach another gospel other than what we have preached let him be accursed. We need to follow what the gospel teaches and be weary or strange new revelations that contradict all the bible has taught. In the old testament God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit or they would die, but Satan contradicted God and told him they would become like God. So according to Mormon teaching God was the liar and Satan the truth teller.

Original Mormonism taught that all people can become prophets if they live "right." Each person can receive revelations directly from god. The main body of the church fairly quickly saw this created lots of problems for central authority and a leading prophet (I think Young) had a Revelation saying only the heads of the church can have Revelations. This caused a big split in the church.

In fact it is still a big problem and 2 of the main groups, the mainstream church and the fundamentalists continue to disagree. It is the underlying difference between the churches, and not polygamy, and incest, although these issues certainly get better ratings on T.V.

I do not believe it.
Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus’ incarnation was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary. They believe Jesus is a God, but that any human can also become a god. Christians historically have taught that God is Triune and that He exists eternally as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). No one can achieve the status of God, only He is holy (1 Samuel 2:2). We can only be made holy in God's sight through faith in Him (1 Corinthians 1:2).

Yes and no. We believe that we can become joint heirs with Christ, that we can inherit all the Father has. I like to put it this way: You have a mother, and I have a mother. I'm sure your mother wants you to become the best you can be. My mom wants the same for me. She wants you to live and grow and learn all you can so one day, you can be a lot like her. Why wouldn't we want that for our children? This is the same as God. He wants us to learn, grow and become more like Him. He is a loving parent and wants us to experience what He has experienced.

Now, just because you have kids, does that mean that your mom isn't still your mom? No. She will always be your mother. That's the same with God. Just because we can become like Him doesn't mean we will be greater then Him, or that He won't be our God. He always will be!! We will always worship Him. Just because we can progress past sitting on a cloud and playing a harp doesn't mean that our belief system in God will change. Wouldn't you want your children to want to become like you also?

I wouldn't be surprised if Mormonism taught that the moon was made out of cheese and that little green men live on mars.

If it were not true, then what is the sole purpose of your existance?

I was not created to simply be an Angel and Sit on a Cloud for Eternity and Strum a Harp.

Neither were you.
