A great deal of the religious formation that a man goes through in seminary involves their psychological health, their sexual identity and willingness to live a life of celibacy, and their understanding of sin.

Somewhere in this process, whether or not they are attracted to women or men will come up. Same-sex attraction is not necessarily something that should prevent a person from becoming a priest, but being openly gay and celebrating/actively participating in the gay lifestyle would be.

There is nothing wrong with a gay man going into the seminary. Merely being gay is not a sin. Committing homosexual acts is, but since a seminarian ultimately takes the vow of celibacy, their sexual orientation becomes irrelevant.

You might be tempted to claim homosexual priests are the ones who have done the molesting. Not necessarilly. Homosexuals are attracted to ADULTS of the same sex. The sexual attraction to children is a totally different disorder which hetero and homosexuals can be afflicted with.
