Unconditional love and acceptance, the freedom to be themselves and not fear judgement, Support of their hopes and dreams and a willingness to share anothers optimistic and maybe foolish idea that anything is possible. Being told"we love you and are proud of the person you are becoming" is always icing on the cake. We are all a work in progress, and if you are lucky you get a family who understands that everybody has different dreams.

Closeness, able to pick up the phone and say hi and they actually answer the phone.

Spending the Holidays together again, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. My mother who is now in her mid 70's stopped having us over and stopped celebrating this events about 6 or 7 years ago. I have a rather large amount of siblings and we all live in the same area, but no one calls each other anymore or visits. My mother has ripped our family apart.

Sunday dinners, annual family reunions and just plan get along without being judged, lied to, accused of doing things you didn't do and the gossip within the family is ok, but on my side of the family, my mother is the biggest culprit of all. It's a shame but I've now been told (and I didn't have to be told) by 2 different family counselors, to stay away from my mother she is actually dangerous.

So, I've had all of the above and it's been over for years, I'm still in the process of grieving, but I have had to sever ties within my family. Even though I had to do this, it still hurts but it's better than being verbally abused.

Family, hum...never in my wildestest dreams did I ever think family could treat you so bad but it happens.

I want to move and I will very soon. I don't want to "run away from my problems" so I'm tying up all loose ends, selling what I can and I'm not sure where I'm going, but it has to better than where I've been.
