all he did was move his finger in circles around the pencil, and then he would his finger back, and the pencil would follow his finger. please tell me how to do it !!

Get a magic book from the library. Tricks like this are done with very thin "invisible" wire-kinda like fishing wire.

Old trick, you emit a silent puff of air aimed NEXT TO the pencil and it will move when the air gets there.
