Dan don't use a crock to make wine instead use a large plastic container like a 5 gal. plastic water bottle that way it will be easy to fit an air lock to it. you will need to use an air lock or your wine might turn to vinegar.A crock is fine for home brew. but not good for wine or beer.

Go to a wine or beer making store. They sell big plastic containers (a garbage can type of thing) for making wine. They can get you set up with all the stuff you need from start to finish.

I don't know where you live, but when my big pickle crock cracked from my parents' house, I found a replacement at Home Depot... and then at a better price at Pottery Barn because they carry more kitchen items.
