Yes. The Quakers never ask for money. They generally mention where the collection box is but that's all.

Anybody can interpret the bible. Get yourself a handy concordance and pray a little before you start to study. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into correct understanding. Then don't try to read them in order. Start with the gospel of John to get acclimated then look through and find some that are short and look interesting.

Yeah, there are some places that don't ask, they'll have a collection box at the back, but don't ask.
Anyone can interpret the Bible, but the reason for going to church isn't as simple as to hear it interpreted. But usually pastors have a deeper understanding from years of reading and having devotionals and spending time listening to God and others who have wisdom. Also, some of the information has meanings that make a lot more sense if accompanied with knowledge of the time and place it took place. But you can always and most definitely get something out of your own time with God in the Word.

Dear one, how do you think a church pays the light bill? What about the pastor or the church secretary? Do you think they should just donate all their waking hours and not have any money to feed their families?

Every church, no matter how small, has an operating budget.

So when you get all upset that each church takes an offering on Sunday, remember that it's for a reason. Out of that offering, they send money to missionaries overseas as well as in the U.S.

Christians gladly give what they can to support the fellowship they attend. Myself included.

God bless!

1 Corinthians 16
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him

The Old Testament talks about tithing but that law was not carried over to the New Testament which we live under today. We are told to give as much as we can WITH a willing and loving heart, not begrudging what we give. There is no set amount or percentage, just that we give liberally and do it with the right attitude.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (King James Version)
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

No, I've never been to a church that didn't ask for money...but you must understand that there wouldn't be any church's around if they didn't ask for it. Churches are run completely by donations.
And as for Bible interpretations, there are plenty of books that help with that. Although those are all good, it is still best, in my opinion, to go to church to make sure your interpretations are acurate. That's what pastors are for, to lead you in the right direction. :)

As a matter of fact, there is no offering plate in my church. There is a box in the back that you can put money in, or prayer request, or questions or whatever.

If you want to understand what the bible is really saying to you, get a good bible, a concordance, a bible dictionary... that's a beginning.

Nope.

2. When you get Born-Again, GOD comes to Live inside of you. Spirits can do that.
The Teacher (Holy Spirit) inside of you Will Lead you and Guide you into All Truth.

All People Learn at different Rates. You really don't need anybody to Teach you "What the Bible Says" but, it might take along time for One of us to Learn---so, GOD gives us Teachers too!
What might take you 20 years to Learn, this other guy Learns it and sells a CD, then you buy it and Learn it in 2 hours.

Hope this helps.

How can a church operate without money?

If you want to be religious on your own then fine. But if you want to be a member of a church it costs money to keep it going.

If you don't get your money's worth then don't go and don't pay. If you do get your money's worth then nobody else has a right to complain that you are paying for something you find valuable.

no i haven't, and I am glad. Otherwise I would be at a complete loss as to how I was going to give my tithe to God. It is a religious..I don't want to say obligation...but it is something that Christians do to show God that they are thankful for what he has given them, and that they are willing to give back at least some of what they are given.

And besides..churches don't get grants from the government, so things like electricity and water bills have to be paid somehow. I get to support my church and pay homage to my God all in one shot. How awesome is that?
