When will the symptoms go away. He has the painful sores in and around his mouth, and he can't eat. He has a feeding tube now, but I'm wondering if he will ever really get over it? I can't stand the thought of putting him to sleep, but it also breaks my heart to see him suffer. He had his shots for it, but that didn't seem to protect him. He has been sick for almost two weeks now-doesn't come out from under the bed unless I drag him out to feed him, or he needs to use the little box. He looks miserable with mucus coming out of every hole in his face. PLEASE HELP!

As I've answered before, only time.I know it's very frustrating, but he is getting fed.Is there any improvement at all? Is he taking antibiotics and Lysine? Perhaps a different antibiotic is in order. Does he have the new form of the virus, the virulent strain? It is more dangerous and harder to get over than the ordinary calicivirus.Perhaps you should take him back to the vet and get a second opinion as to when ,and if,the cat will recover.I wish you the best,I know how awful it is when a pet is sick.

I am sorry for your cat. However i lost one of my cats to FCV. There is no cure for it and like me you are going to have to put him to sleep. I know it may be difficult though i can tell you love your cat. So do what is best for him and let him go now before it gets any worse. Belive me it will get worse and your cat will be in agony the entire time. he has lived a good long life. do what his best for him.
