I'm 22 years old and live in Virginia. My former employer states that she filed a police report for items that i stole. I took 100 dollars, some books i was reading and intended to return, and also 2 bread pans i borrowed with intention to return. All of which i have returned to her. I haven't heard from the police at all about this. Was a little over 2 weeks ago. This is my first offense and i apoligized to my former employer. I know that what i did was wrong and feel terrible. I know i can't change what i did, no matter how hard i wish i could. She has also stated that she is missing a pair of jeans (I wear a size 2 she wears at least a 7), a baseball hat (i don't wear hats), and some scrap booking item (which i don't scrap book). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Serious answers only please. Thank you in advance

It's petty theft.
If you are convicted, and it is your first offense, you will probably receive probation, a fine, and be ordered to make restitution.

The most important question I can ask is do you have any prior arrest? if not then you will have to pay restitution 1 year probation and a $200 fine She may not even press charges and with the jeans and other issues it looks to me like shes piling on things which makes her story a little less believable. Its like this The D.A. will have to make a determination of whether there is any evidence of you taking anything. If the police come to talk to you DO NOT ADMIT GUILT! Tell them you have nothing to say without your attorney present and dont want to answer any questions without your attorney present. That is your right. I think your chances are great of nothing happening.

Restitution of cash or the cash value of stolen goods (your statements don't preclude the possibility that the goods were taken), court costs and if your lucky, probation before judgement. If you are not, probation for about 1-2 years.
