You'll be in with a bunch of newbies. While the marines is more hardcore military, you'll find things are mostly the same, such as rank, marching drills, attention to detail, etc. Take what you know and use it to possibly get upped a rank or two.

Don't brag about being in the army if you have a fear of being singled out. Chances are pretty good that you'll be able to put your military experience to good use. Training is similar, but slightly different because of the more Navy-like implements which are either easy or extremely difficult depending on how physically fit you are. Just know that a lot of the mainline troops in the marines live in poorer conditions than the army does, not because they lack funding, but to show how tough they are. If you're used to MREs and the like, you shouldn't have a problem there. Mainstream marines tend to not be as well-equiped as the army is though, so if you're going to be an officer, that's good. Otherwise, do your best to rise through the ranks.
My cousin (that is a captain in the Army) has a friend from college that joined the marines. They compared their training experiences at one point and decided that marine training was slightly tougher, but your expectations in the army are higher depending on your job or task. Additionally, the marines don't use the high-tech armored vehicles as much as the army.

Why would you go from the Army to the Marines. You know that the Marines are much more regimented than the Army is right? Most people do the opposite. Yes, the DIs will expect a certain amount of leadership from you since you are prior service. You should be prepared to be a leader not a follower.

If you where a soldier, why are you worried about getting picked on? Worry not, Marines are no nonsense, they should be a little more serious about missions than the Army. After all, they are a lot tougher. Really, you shoot Iraqis for a living, and your worried about being singled out? That's why they shouldn't let kids in the military, The age should be 21 & up.
Just do what I did and keep to your work, and hobby at work.

We had a woman who was prior service Army when I went to MCRD. She got picked on a little, but everyone does. If it's not that, they'll find something else. As you know their job is to break you down and build you up.
However, my question is shouldn't you be going to PITSTOP and not actually recruit training? Or, have you been out too long?
Whatever your case may be, I wish you well and it'll be a piece of cake for you. You've already got the experience as a soldier. No worries!
Oorah!

Absolutely not ! The DI's will respect the fact that you are former military, regardless of it being army.navy, or air force.
They may try to convince you that the Marine Corps way is the best way, that the training is harder, etc., but you should be pretty much left alone as far as your prior service.

I think that you will find them relatively fair. I had a few Army in Marine bootcamp with me and they treated them fairly like the rest of us-with an occational boot in the backside! Lolo..........really, you don't have anything to worry about.
