Take a look at this Q&A and you'll see what I mean. I was quite surprised by a lot of the postive reactions it received.

I understand were all tired and frustrated of illegal immigration. All the pro-illegal rallies waving foreign flags, the government not doing a damn thing about it, amnesty attempts, no end in sight, etc.

I just never thought it would come to the point were people would be cheering and wooting to the idea of putting snipers across the border.

It isnt debate that generates negative attitudes....it's the demonstrating in our streets with Flags other than our own waving. It's the fact that they are DEMANDING rights they dont deserve....it's the fact that they take more from this country than what they put in....taxing taxpaying citizens...I can go on...but I think you get the point...

Nice to see most people are in agreement here, too bad our own dumba$$ government will probably ignore the will of the people as the Democrat party is fond of doing. As for the one John Lenon lover, like the music but don't be a dumba$$. Eventually everything comes down to money, even the great example of the hippie free love moron's at WoodStock wouldn't have had such the love fest had volunteers in the community not chipped in to give these partiers free food. In the end of the ordeal, the investors were out a boat load of money and the free loading hippies that decided to enjoy themselves did it on the backs of those who were paying and volunteering. Sure, they probably had a great time and its the only example in the country of a time it could happen this way, but all it would have taken to ruin it all was someone to be practical and expect a return on thier investment. Likewise with illegals, they are busting America's bank and they need to go. Thier contribution does not outway thier cost and if they actually cared about becoming citizens of a nation of laws, they wouldn't break them to get here. There is no good excuse for bypassing the legal immigration process unless your life is literally in danger and asking for asylum

Yes, unfortunatly it has. This is unfortunate, to be sure. Immigration has always been, and still is, a great boon to America, likewise, there has been a great backlash to immigrants amoung the American public throughout history. The Germans were victimized by this backlash, then the Irish , then the Italians, and now the Hispanics- and let's be honest, it's mainly the Mexicans. Fruit is presently rotting in the feilds of Californian farmers partly due to this. Think of it this way,Mexicans here in America must pay taxes on everything they buy, including the exhorbenent Federal taxes on alchohol and tobacco. Take an estimate of this huge influx of tax money from the flood of illegals and use all this money to put government programs in place to help solve any problems with illegal immigration that might exist.

The debate is only one factor in my negative attitudes towards Hispanics. When I can't go into Walmart or Home Depot in California and hear one word of English, I become negative. Whatever we are doing to prevent more illegals isn't working. Something stronger is needed. I'm not sure about snipers, but something more than a wall, because those little monkeys crawl right over that.

It certainly has. This huge influx of illegal boarder jumpers from the south have many wondering, just who is supposed to be here and who isn't supposed to be here. For the Hispanics that are here legally I am sure that they have experienced some sort of racial profiling from both Hispanics and non-Hispanics. That is a shame. However, I could not care less how a illegal alien from a Latino country feels about it.

While I do not support snipers on the borders, but I do see a country where the will and the wants of the American citizens are being putted aside many in congress and the White House that want to reward those who broke our laws with amnesty.

It is unfortunate, but inevitable, that when some individuals in an identifieable demographic group cause trouble, the whole group suffers by association. In the same way that Italians are stereotypically associated with the mafia, blacks with hip-hop culture, whites with the KKK, germans with the Nazis, Arabs with terrorism, and Asians with, well, high-performing college students, Hispanics are now associated with illegal immigration, because millions of hispanics have immigrated illegally.

As to the borders (north & south): sure, snipers, walls, electrified fences, mine fields - whatever it takes to stem the tide.

What is there to debate? Illegals are a problem and most of them came from Mexico and other hispanic countries. It's a fact, but the issue is that they are illegal not that they are hispanic. That is a racist cop out.

It's reached frustration levels and people are just letting off steam with those answers. Notice, however, that the question didn't involve simply shooting all Hispanics, but rather those who try to run across the border.

How about snipers with tranquilizer darts? Knock them out and ship them right back before they wake up? (I'm frustrated too.)

I think people still have a bit of a sense of humor about it though. Sometimes humor is a way to deal with a situation which makes you feel powerless. http://nerdnirvana.org/g4m3s/borderpatrol.htm

It has. Sadly, the uneducated think the only illegals are hispanic. They are terribly misguided. Do you know how many people come here on a tourist visa and stay?
