Yes. There are 70,758 National Guard and Army Reserve personnel on active duty as of October 3rd. Only three of the states have more than 3,000 of their members involved. They are California, Texas and Virginia. Surprisingly, Puerto Rico has over 2,300 on active duty. Louisiana, which was one of the states crying the blues over this has less than five hundred involved and that figure has never been over 800.
Not all of those personnel have been deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. Many are in the continental U.S. in support of Operation Noble Eagle, the defense of the homeland.
There are sufficient numbers of personnel remaining under control of their states to provide assistance.

Yes there are many National Guard units deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and even some individual guard members that are called up and attached to big army units. The Guard and Reserves work on a rotation roster to try and keep all units deployed the same amount of time. The national guard is under the command of state governors and when needed may be called to federal service anywhere in the world.

Yes, national guard units are deployed to Iraq
In fact 50% of the combat forces in Iraq are national guard members.

There are still many National Guard units stateside.

National Guard units are struggling however, Many times when they come home from deployments, they have to leave their equipment overseas for other troops, so when we come home, we don't have all of our equipment.

Yes, some are. I guess you don't watch the news. The only situation I've seen was in KS. They didn't have some equipment to help w/ a tornado disaster. I'm sure there are other shortages somewhere.
