Ive already asked this but I wasnt clear so Ill try again.

I take pain med for Chronic pain, its a long term thing so its something I have to deal with. I dont drink much but I would like to drink with the girls tonight. They are trying to get me out of the house, which I really need. I usually take percocet and if I drink I wont take it for a couple hours before I go out.
I am trying Opana right now ( not the ER version). Ive taken 15mg all day, its been tuogh because Im in pain but I havent taken it since 2-3 this afternoon. I just wanted to be cautious if I went out and had a couple drinks say around 9ish tonight.
I am so tired of dealing with meds and worrying and it seems like the one night I want to go out, its a hassle. I know I can drink soda or non-alcoholic drink but tonight I just want to be a normal 23 year old.

Thank you for your help.

Okay I think you've got it mistaken. I am 23, the past couple years have been the hardest thing Ive ever had to deal with. I dont drink ever, and because of the pain Ive been isolating myself. If you have chronic pain then you do know that your life changes dramatically. Its hard when people dont understand, you look normal but your in constant pain and all you want is a break , to go back to the time where you didnt even know what pain was. Ive dealt with alot, and Ive recently gone through a hard breakup, partly to do with my chronic pain, it was hard for him to deal with everything, doctors, pain , excuses for not going out, side effects from medication.
Its been tough and i am 23 so I want to go out. I am very cautious and very nervous about drinking on it. I know about percocet, having dealt with it. I dont know about Opana, I was nervous. I think you should really find out about people situations before you insult people, you dont know what people are going through.

Okay, for one, if having a drink makes you a normal 23 year old then I really am sorry for you.
I really, really don't mean to be rude to you, but I am very straight to the point.
Your priorities are really out of whack!! I too am a chronic pain patient and believe me, my condition has disrupted my life more than you could ever imagine. You are on a medication that is helping you cope with your issue and it is a medication that clearly states that you should not drink with it.
Do you have any idea how hard pain is on your body? Your heart, blood sugar, your nerves everything is effected. You are intentionally causing yourself pain so you can go have a drink? What about all the people who care for you and love you that worry about you when you hurt, what about them? They are worth the price of a drink?
Either you pain must not be as bad as you say or you simply don't care about all that people do to help you get better or stable.

Well it really isn't advised to drink with those meds, but I would just take it easy and not drink to heavily. If you feel it taking a strange effect then stop or really slow down because it will affect you more then a person not on the meds. Make sure you have a designated driver and know when to say when

I am a chronic pain pt also, I know how you feel about wanting to get out. You will be fine just take it easy, drink something with little alcohol in it, maybe a glass of wine and nurse it, just sip it and then get a diet coke or something no one will know what it is. Dont worry about what others on this site say, yes your in pain, but you also want a life dont worry about having a drink or two just know your limits, good luck and have fun with your friends.

I know your pain well!!! I injured my back (3surgies),crushed lft wrist, and leave in cold/damp climate!! I nearly died a couple of times with meds, I quit them, its tough, I use oniments, hot bathes, lots of exersise, and work every day!! Not only for the $$$, but for the life exrierence!! Too many times, we get r selves too isolated from thereal world, and complain too much!! I normally don't even tell people I work with of my pains!! I'm still young enough, not to whine like an old person in a nursing home!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!!!!!!
