what to use as trap bait?

i just bought a squirrel trap and i want to no what to bait it with please help

some thing that wont cause lots of ants

peanut butter and jelly. rodents really like peanut butter, and they like the sugar thats in jelly.

If we are talking Havahart Traps with the tilting bait tray.....Peanut Butter with Whole Unsalted in the shell Peanuts stuck into a small amount of Peanut Butter. I took a metal screw type jar lid and turned it upside down. I drilled 2 small holes in it and secured it to the bait tray using a plastic cable tie. I put the Peanut Butter in the lid first then stuck 4-6 Whole Peanuts in the shell into the Peanut Butter......Worked great and minimized the mess since the Peanut Butter was inside the jar lid....

i always use peanut butter with bird seed mixed in so they have to work to take the bait it work wonders on the 33 squirrels i had to remove other baits are able to picked off the trap pan with out setting it off but watch out for birds they love this stuff to and will die in the trap

My daughter found that she could take a pinecone, smear peanut butter over it, then sprinkle unsalted sunflower seeds on it and kind of push them into the peanut butter, then we used a string to hang the cone from the top wire of the cage/trap. It worked well for us here in Idaho.

just put peanut butter on a pine cone about an inch away from the ends to stop ants, they don't like pine.

I was gonna say PB too.

Say that pine cone filled with PB sounds like a good way to keep the ants out......
