the other day my mom and i bought this gigantic box of popcorn(the one with the plastic bags and the paper things with kerneals inside.)and when we put it in the microwave oven, it didn't work. Yeah. So, can I just put it in a pot and toss the kernals in there? What setting for the oven do I use? High? How many should I put in?

in each kernal of corn is a tiny bit of water. it is that water that when it is heated to a certain point explodes and make the kernal pop into popcorn.

go ahead and do what others have said to do and learn for yourself what works best. all i would like to add is it is best to vent the lid a little to let that water, which has now become steam, escape. if it doesnt escape and remains in the pot under the covered lid there is a high risk of the popcorn on the bottom of the pot to become burned.

Microwave popcorn is no different than regular popcorn.
Microwave popcorn bags are simply meant to make it convenient to pop the corn without having dishes, pans etc.
to wash afterwards.

Assuming you have microwave popcorn, you can put it in an old time hot air popper. You can also cook it over a camp fire like jiffy pop, either in a pan or campfire popcorn maker.

The ticket is not to get the corn so hot it burns before popping. To do this keep the pan moving, by shaking. hold high above fire and move downwards while shaking until you get poppping. By all means, do not stop moving the container, or keep it one place, IT will burn.

Also, do not try to get every kernel to pop. Stuff when popping slows down.

You could do this in the oven, but its probably not the best idea. First you would have to cover the pot, glass bowl etc. to keep the corn from falling inside the oven. If you do try this, allow ample room for the corn to pop, it will expand about 10 times the size of the bag it came in.

If you are an adventerous type and try this oven method, start with the lowest heat, wait 10 minutes. If you get no popping
( you will hear it ) turn heat up gradually until you do. Since shaking the container is not a likely option ( I suppose 4 big guys could lift the entire appliance and shake it ) you will need
to remove the corn from oven promptly when popping slows.

Good luck!

Just how most of the others said, just cover the bottom of the pot completely with oil. It doesn't have to be deep, just has to be covered. Too much popcorn in the pot will cause them to not all pop. You could experiment for the amount of corn you put in. Just remember to remove from the heat rapidly when the popping slows.

to pop popcorn in a pot you have to put a small amount ,4 or 5 tablespoons ,of oil in withvthe popcorn, then heat it on high heat with the lid on, turn it down to medium when the corn starts popping and shake the pot back and forth vigourously during the popping process. put about 1/4 cup of popcorn in, not too much as it will pop the lid off and you'll have popcorn flying everywhere.

No, I don't think so. It is made just for the microwave but you might be able to do it on top of the stove in a pot that has oil in the bottom, just enough to cover the kernels. High heat and shake it while it pops.

Use a large pot with a tight-fitting lid. Start by coating the bottom of the pan with a thin layer of vegetable oil. Next pour the kernels into the pan (just enough to form a single layer on the bottom of the pan). Keep your heat between low and medium. Shake the pan to keep from burning. When the popping starts to slow down, remove it from the heat and let the last kernels pop. Be careful when removing the lid-the steam can burn you.

I think you should get a medium sized pot, put a little oil it about 1tbsp then . pour about 1/2 cup of kernels, maybe more, turn the burner to medium-high, put the lid on and wait. Soon you should hear them popping.
shake the pot a little to keep the kernels from burning, but be patient. This sometimes takes a few minutes to heat up enough.
Add melted butter afterwards if you like.

You just put some oil and butter on the bottom of your kennel. Wait till the oil/butter is warm enough and then add your seeds. Cover the pot and you will hear the poping sound. you can then add what every seasonings you what on your popcorn. It tastes much better than regular popcorn in the mircowave!!

Good Luck!!

put a little oil in the bottom of a high pot, with a cover, put on low heat on the stove, keep shaking it so it dont burn, wait till the popping slows and it's done.
