Its healthy to lose 1-2lbs a week- you might lose a bit more in first week or two but if you lose more than that - you are doing something wrong because its most likely water weight and muscle you are losing which means you are also slowing down your metabolism.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 400-600cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day (have lots of veggies to eat in between meals if you are still hungry)
8 glasses of water -carry bottle of water with you and when you feel hungry drink it - we often confuse hunger with thirst (our bodies confuse it)
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise and burns fat all over your body (running, jogging, swimming, spinning, elliptical etc) 4-6 times a week for average of 45min, light weight training a few times a week (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, ice cream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
of course you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

You can lose 30 lbs in a month or two. One the best and easiest things you can do is drink a big glass of water right when you wake up in the morning, this gets your metabolism going right away and always eat something for breakfast, instant oatmeal is a quick and good choice. If you don't eat something in the morning the body tends to hold on to food from the day before rather than digesting it. I know you probably don't want to hear it but if you want the weight of quickly you need to exercise. One thing I have found works well is a mini trampoline. I put it up in front of my T.V. and the times flies while I'm watching my favorite shows. To start jog inplace as long as you can then get down and do some stretches and sit-ups. Then get back on and jog again. Keep alternating the two. Everyday try to jog 5 minutes longer then the day before. In know time you'll be able to jog an hour which is long enough in my book. If you have some problem areas you want to work on search the web for pilate exercises for that area, they work great. Good Luck!

There are more diets than ever and more people dieting than ever and yet we have the fattest society ever. So a lot of these ideas about losing weight, make you fatter. Cutting calories, carbs and fats can cause you to have a weight problem for life. It is better to eat differently. See site below and learn why lean meat and non-fat yogurt are so fattening.
Also salt has no calories but makes you fat. This also has the quickest weight loss possible. Eat good carbs, not bad carbs. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Eat foods made by nature and avoid foods made by man which are designed to make you fat and very addicted to food. Do the ninja warrior diet (not a diet but a diet lifestyle). 5th link on "LINKS" page is BMI calculater to see if you are overweight.

Give yourself a 7 days a week plan. Start out walking around your neighborhood/city wherever for at least 30 minutes every day. As you get back on track, you'll be able to bump it up to jogging/walking, then in the future as you start to get into shape run. Make sure you do something every day. Whether its just a casual stroll at the end of a busy day, or a long cardio workout on the weekends. If you don't have the time for a long cardio workout, do crunches, pushups, etc. while you're watching TV or something. It requres a lot of self discipline, so stick with it even if you have to kick yourself to get moving. Before excersising make sure you're eating foods rich in fiber (I highly recommend Cliff granola bars. they fill you up and never make you sick) Eat plenty of fruits, veggies, nuts, and yogurt. I recommend eating a lot- I don't mean full on meals, but snacks. Graze throughout the day on healthy snacks and it will get your metabolism back on track and give you the energy to exercise every day. Good luck and I hope you stick with it. It's worth it!

How old are you? What's your weight now? What's your diet like now? All these and more are important to be able to answer this. For me I lost 40 lbs (217 to 177), by walking daily, quit drinking pop, ate a little less and quit eating "junk" food.

I think you should go on a healthy diet and go jogging or to the gym often. Good Luck.
