Classification

According to Ethnologist and Linguist, the Navajos are classified scientifically as follows,

Primary Race : Mongoloid (Asian) or
Xanthochroid
(Homo Sapiens Asiaticus)
Secondary Race : American Indian
Ensemble : Na-Dené
Branch : Athabascan-Eyak
Family : Athabascan
Group : Athabascan
Sub-Group : Apachean
Unit : Navajo-Apache
Sub-Unit : Western Apache
Tribe : Navajo (Diné)

what does primary and secondary race mean?

Does this mean that the Navajos are Asian?

They are saying that the Navojo are Asian in origin, and
Secondarily, they are "Indians".
This is somewhat different from other sources about the American Natives, but the result is basically the same.

The Navajo and Apaches were amongst the last ones to arrive in the Americas.

Primary is if you divide the human race into three; Caucasoid, ******* and Mongoloid. Secondary is if you subdivide it into six; Caucasians, Asians, Africans, Australian Aboriginies, American "Indians" and Malay/Polynesians.

It looks like you folks are more closely related to the Apache than to, say, the Mohawks or Seminoles.

I can't explain the specifics of all that, (because i don't know) but Asians and Native Americans share a distant, common ancestry (well we all do really, so does it really matter?) from when they crossed the land bridge in the bering strait and migrated into the americas. Look at some anthropology books for more info.
