Hello,

This situation could last a few years and the Cdn dollar may go to 1.10 US. I have been around a fair spell and in the late 60's to mid 70's the Cdn dollar was also at par or higher than the US at times.

This situation is good for Cdn vacationers going to the US but certainly not for exporters in Canada since the costs of their products are far less attractive than when the Cdn dollar was 30% lower.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

It has been in a steady decline for the last 6 years in Thailand in 2001 the dollar was 43 baht to the dollar, it has fallen to 34.4 Baht to the dollar. This is not a short term problem!

It was above the US dollars in the mid 70's too. It eventually fell back down.

We are systematically exporting our money through 'free trade' outsourcing, illegal immigration remittances and borrowing.

Good question.
