Ok my friend has an extra Xbox 360 but the Power AV cable broke and I really want to play Halo 3. Should I take his extra Xbox 360 (he will give it to me for free) and then buy the Power AV Cable which is $100 . Then I would have to bu Live and Halo 3 and a controller which will all cost around $300.

also i found the controller for $40 and I would also need a wireless network adapter. so here is the total add up for all of the stuff i would need to buy.
AC Power Cable-$100
Wireless Network Adapter-$100
Wireless Controller-$40
Halo 3-$60
Xbox Live(1 year)-$60
Total-$360

I wouldn't JUST for Halo 3. Although I don't have an X360, I do know that there are a lot of other good games for it. If you plan on getting other games, then it could be worth it.

$100 for an AV cable?
Hey, tell you what, I'll sell you one for $50. Sure, it's just the same old one that Microsoft sells for $20, but hey, if you want to waste money, who am I to argue?
Seriously, the cables from Microsoft are fine. Those so-called premium cables from companies like Monster or whatnot are just a big ripoff. They aren't any better than the cheaper cables. They aren't even made with better materials than the cheaper cables (hint : extra thick rubber doesn't make a cable better - just thicker!)
Your friend is silly to give away his 360 just because he needs a new cable.
Also, you only need Live ($50/year) if you want to play online. You don't need it to play single-player, or splitscreen multiplayer.
Controller and Halo3 should be about $100, so I'm really confused where you're getting this $300 figure from.

well, I would buy like a madcatz controller for like $20 and the av cable off the internet for about $10. I really don't know about xbox live, so if your'e serious about it, then get whatever you feel. anyways, that would just be about $100, instead of the $300 you thought you would spend. I'm getting an xbox 360 for many reasons, not just halo 3. It will be my dvd player, my cd player, the graphics, halo 3, need for speed, madden, viva pinata, fuzion frenzy 2 (I played ti and thought it was acctually a good game), DDR. so get it, but I don't know if it's really worth it for just 1 game.

I would get the xbox 360, but no just because halo 3 is the best game in the world (which it is), but there is alot more other games that are cool, like call of duty 2, and 3. Gears of war, stranglehold, bioshock, etc. Even the xbox live will be a really good way to experience the 360 a whole lot more.

Yes I guess but what about controllers and what condidtion is the 360 in...I mean if you buy the cables will it work ...Can he hook his cable up from the other 360 so you can test it first...Also halo 3 I would just rent it on a friday... it doesn't take that long to finish and that way if you really want to buy it get it off ebay for really cheap..Plus you can get xbox live cards for really cheap on ebay as well..

idk. i bought it cuz im taking it to college anyway. but halo3 isnt that great. i like 2 better but 3 will deff be better when the upgrade. if ull play it a lot id say its worth it. u can prob find a cheaper cable online. controller = 40 live = 50 game= 60 cable <90 = 240 tops.

And what will happen, when you'l pass the game over and over. Also there is a chance of red ring of death in Xbox 360. Think twice.
