Christians: what do you think of this quote?

Question

"Absence of evidence justifies absence of belief."

Is there any objective evidence of god that would obligate us atheists to start believing, or do you Christians simply dislike us because because we don't conform to your particular set of beliefs, no matter the circumstances?

This is probably the simplest question I could ever ask.

scdiva79: believe it or not, Pascal's Wager isn't objective evidence. I would rather live my life rationally and not base my entire belief system on the off-chance that there is, in fact, a god. It makes you appreciate life a lot more knowing that this is all you get.

I like the quote. I believe in God not because of a lack of evidence, but because of the abundance of it. It is the only theory that makes sense and God as described in the bible is the only God that fits the theory.

Well, seeing how if the evidence was in your face, you wouldn't NEED BELIEF, I say that would be a moronic quote. The absence of evidence REQUIRES belief.
That is the point of FAITH.
There are those that no matter how much or how good of evidence there is, they will not believe.
I would submit that christianity is not dependant on your belief, nor does it sound like it would be counted a loss if you never accepted any belief system at all.
I do not dislike you as an atheist.
I simply regard you as someone who has rejected the concept of a higher power, and therefore you must behave as such.
Be sure to update everyone on how much fulfillment your shortsighted and ego-centric life gives you.

Well first I do not dislike you. You may know Christians that do because of your belifes but them again they are probally not true Christians.

I would not expect an Atheist to start believing in God just because of something that I say. I do not have to prove to you that there is a God in heaven that created all things. If you shose not to believe that is your choice.

You see I dont need the type of evidence that you are speaking of because I have something that you do not. It is called faith. I could never except you to understand that so I wont even try to explain it to you. Faith come by hearing the word of God and if you are not willing then you will never have it.

You and everyone else have been given the choice wether or not to accept that there is a God and a Savior that has paid the penalty for sin. Since thus far you have chosen not to accept the free gift of salvation the only one that loses is you.

If you chose to not believe it does not harm me in any way! Do what you want. If so called christians try to conform you or attack you because of your non belife then rest assured that they are probally not true Christains themselves and therefore will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

It does sadden me to see so many people turn away from God's love, as they really dont know what they are missing. But it is no surprise as few will actually go to heaven because few actullay follow God the way he has instucted as you can probally see by the remarks and actions of many self proclaimed Christians.

Coming from an agnostic background for the first 37 years of my life, I can tell you, even if there was evidence, the artiest is so closed to the idea of God, that they probably will not listen to any evidence if you presented it to them. I was still searching for the truth as an agnostic, I think that is why I was open when the Holy Spirit came to me. I was not convinced I was so right the way atheist are. Atheist take pride in denying God. They feel it shows how smart they are,,how informed...the miss the whole bit about spirit and faith. They only understand what they can see. WE are body, mind and....spirit...you can't see a mind either..but they believe they have a mind....I think therefore I am...but they deny their spirit...


I am afraid pride will keep them from Heaven...Homosexuality and Pride are the two sins, God calls an abomination......the first because it is a sin against your own body,,the second a sin against your spirit...your spirit tells you there is a God and you need a Savior..Your pride tells you, you are not a sinner....Always learning and never coming to the knowledge of the truth.

objective evidence.... you can just look around and see creation. it makes more sense that God made it then a big bang or we evolved from some monkey dont you ever think that there has to be something greater out there? and i have nothing against atheists or anyone else that not a christian God loves you just the same as he loves me and anyone else in this world.

There is evidence.

-The tomb of Jesus has been found in Jerusalem. The inscription on his "bone-box" was Jesus Christ, Messiah.
-The Bible has it written all over and it was written by men who actually KNEW Jesus
-You may be suprised when you die

the books of Job and Isaiah written 1470 b.c.e and 700 b.c.e. say that the earth is round and "hangs upon nothing". how long did the rest of the world take to figure that out.

You must think pretty highly of the person who said that. To say that it applys to all man, regardless of their own beleifs. To think this highly, you must think them.... a god?

I don't dislike anyone. People dislike me because I beleive something irrational and they find me delusional for it. But still continue to press against me and question me... as if begging to proove them right, and to proove to them that God is real.

Who said all Christians hate Atheists? I'm Christian, I don't hate Atheists, you have a right to believe what you want as we do.

No matter what any Christian says, you won't believe -- SO, believe on!
