I'm pretty sick of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints being prosocuted for our beliefs. Heck, there's a freakin' church out there that belives that we are the result of alien experimentation, and THEY get less grief the mormons. Why can't people just accept that we're a bit different?
Did people prosocute Jews when they found out that the Jews had their own version of a Bible? Were Muslims taunted, told that their beliefs weren't true? I have had too many people walk up to me and say, 'Repent, and you can still be saved!' and then start quoting scriptures at me. IT'S HARRASMENT! And the freakin' government really doesn't do CRAP about it! I mean, a govener of a state back in the 1800s actually was part of a group that tarred and feathered a group of Saints.
And I'm not calling LDS saints like Michalangilo, and the like. And yes, that's probably not how you spell his name, but I'm freakin' thirteen. And polygamy wasn't accepted by just the LDS, thanks very much./Cont.

Many men did it back then. Heck, people still do it today, and not all of them are Mormon. So why all the persecution? I'm getting sick and tired of people shouting that what we belive in isn't true. If they don't agree, they can just keep it to them bloody selves.

And people, seriously, I'm sick of people thinking that just because I'm younger than others, that I'm a 'little girl who is easily impressed upon'.
I've read the 'Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire' by Gibbons, and I understand a lot more then some people who are three times my age! Give me a break!

yo litte girl it is ok. relax, take a chill pill, quit freaking out. The goverment is just jealous because they cant get any profits from lobbyist. now girl, spread the word and get some lobbyist in washington and the tide will turn. People in the bible long ago married thier sisters, brothers, children, and the bible tells us so. I dont know mabey it was just for gods people at that time but the again it says to read and obey so i think my first guess was right and wrong. Any how america is changing from all these so called do righters that have ripped millions and millions of people off in the name of god and have corrupted the system. they preach one thing and do another. they should be punished harder than any one. if you think you can live by the laws of your religion and be happy then god bless you, be happy, be free, and be sensible.

Well, as a matter of fact, Jews have been persecuted pretty much ever since the legalization of Christianity, as well as a few times before. Muslims? Have you read the papers in the last few years? Scientologists don't get much public grief because they file lawsuits but I haven't heard of a non-Scientologist taking them seriously. So no, the LDS are hardly alone in the persecution department.

The "Repent and be saved" crowd are intolerant of just about everyone else, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, it doesn't really matter. Ignore or avoid them. And going back to the 19th Century is hardly evidence of religious discrimination in the government of today. Do you want a beat cop to follow you around every day and bust other people for harrassment? Just grow some thicker skin. Come up with a good, "Evangelical" comeback. Or just find another route between classes. If it's really serious, you CAN initiate legal action, but it's up to you to do it.

Oh, and Michaelangelo was an artist, not a "saint". I know what you mean by "saint". That's what early Christians called themselves before the martyr cult took over. Joseph Smith just borrowed the custom.

I can sympathize with you, and I even agree with you, but there is a lot you don't know.

The Jews have been persecuted for centuries. The Christians were persecuted by the Jews for a few centuries. Hitler persecuted the Jews during the 1940's.

The Lord's Church is always persecuted. The Catholics conducted the Great Crusades to try to convert the Jews and the Muslims! Then, the Catholic Church persecuted the protestants when they tried to break away from the Catholic Church. Remember how the Pilgrims left England and moved to Holland, and then moved to the New World in order to have their freedom of religion.

It is a shame that other see the LDS as a cult, and even a danger to everyone around them. I don't like it very much, but it is a fact of life.

One time I had a minister approach me and say "I understand you're Mormon. I'm so very sorry." I just returned, "I'm not," and turned and walked away.

I am the only member of the Church in my family, and spent years trying to please everyone. I say that I "sat on the fence." I compromised in many ways in order to keep peace. Finally, one day I decided to stop apologizing for my membership in the Church, and I stopped sitting on the fence. I finally gained the respect from my family that I had been seeking for years.

Don't be contentious, don't apologize for your membership. Be calm and quiet. If someone wants to argue with you about the Church, just walk away. Don't argue!

Good luck. And just be the best example you can be.

Prejudice is ignorance gone to seed! Everyone who is different is a target to people who are ignorant. Is the issue, that you are a LDS and want people to leave you alone for being one? Or you are unsure of what you believe and feel challenged by another's belief?

This is not harassment, its just life. Life challenges you on a daily basis to defend your values. What you value, you have to defend against those that try to devalue what you hold true. As a youngster, you are learning how to evaluate what is real in your life.

There is an old saying "No one can make you feel inferior without your permission."

Just take time to figure out what are the things you will NOT compromise in your life and belief and then work out some strategies for dealing with this intolerance.

Well, to start out you need to understand that the Jews don't have their own version of the Bible. The Jewish version is THE original version, and all other Judeo-Christian-Islamic faiths have modified or added to the original, which is called the Torah (or Old Testament).

The reason the Mormons receive so much crap from modern society has to do with the extraordinary claims made by the religion that defy common sense. Skeptics will tell you that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and to date none has been offered. To be fair, the same can be said of every religion in the world, but with Mormonism you're just adding another layer of extraordinary claims without any evidence. To believe in the Jewish faith, you have to believe what is written in the Torah is accurate. To be Christian, you have to believe what is written in the Torah is mostly accurate AND what is written in the New Testiment is mostly accurate. To be Mormon, you have to believe what is written in the Torah is mostly accurate AND what is written in the New Testiment is mostly accurate AND what is written in the Book of Mormon is mostly accurate. So as you can see, the more layers of faith you add, the more and more difficult it becomes to support a religion's claim of truth without any evidence.

Non-religious people contend that the simplest explanation is that since not all of the religions can be true, then it logically follows that none of them can be true.

Dude! I know! I'm a nondenom and when I'm visiting friends, Jehovah's Witness people knock on their door and start this whole coversation about "what ever your religion is, it's wrong, and our's right, and if you act exactly like us and don't let your stupidness show, you might get to OUR heaven". I have nothing against religions. It's just that people in charge of these religions have twisted it into crap and political power. YOU GO GIRL!! We GOTTA share our opinions!

As for Peter, the first Christians WERE Jews. The founders of Christianity (Jesus, disciples, etc.) were Jews. Most principles of CHristianity were written by Jews in the Bible, and Christianity is almost the same thing as Judaism, just a little tension about Jesus.

Yes, the german prosecuted the jews, yes and yes.
Every religion has a type of prosecution or disbelief. There are some people that think strongly about their own reliong such as your self, and that's why they get over dramatic when they preach. And the government can't do anything about it because it conflicts with the constitution. I hope I help at least a little.

Michelangelo was not a saint, he was an artist. The Jews did not have "their own bible"; they had the old testament of your bible, long before Christianity. I agree that the brimstoners can be annoying, but if you are comfortable and secure in your faith, then try not to let it get to you. Holding grudges about religious preferences is a tremendous waste of time for all concerned for two reasons: arguments are unlikely to change anyone's mind, but will breed contempt, and (my own opinion here) arguing about whose fiction is real serves no true purpose whatsoever.

LDS are persecuted by Christians because Mormonism is a Christian offshoot. Muslims and Jews (not to mention atheists like me) have been persecuted by Christians too. The reason they concentrate on the LDS is because of the similarities not the differences.

If ya can't stand the heat, get outa tha kitchen!
Yea, I bet it's tough stick'n to that church. All Christians take heat from those who have faith in nothing more than their very mechanical reasoning.
But you guys even get it from the rest of us who believe that Christ is not the brother of the Devil but that he is actually the creator in the flesh.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us...
All things were created through him.
Nothing that exists was created without him...

It would be hard to be the brother of someone you created.

Ruff quote of the real thing. Look it up for yourself if you're allowed to do that. It's at the beginning of the Gospel of John

Still, I think you should get outa that kitchen and set at the Lords table.

I really care.
